Took me a while to work out the acronym (must be getting old!), but yes, some great cakes at the end.

Also, didn't miss george dawes at all- their banter was getting a bit stale.
Alison was a decent host.

Yeah, I don't know her really but she was decent. Toned down was all for the better. Poor Amos

The duck and the turtle were amazing looking. Not a bad beaver either (although sounded like the content wasn't too good).

So juvenile, but it was still funny seeing them crack up at any mention of beaver. Proper Naked Gun territory.

They asked for a torte. Everyone has made chocolate sponge cakes and apparently that’s ok.

I'm pretty bored of it all, but my girlfriend still loves it so I end up watching it anyway. It does miss Matt Lucas's sense of humour a bit.
The core show is still fairly strong but my god the various tropes are so incredibly tired now:
- Paul wielding his special hand gesture like a golden god (inventing a way to artificially elevate his status over the female judge is apparently fine rather than somewhere between narcissistic and misogynistic). - to receive a handshake from Paul is better than receiving a blessing from the pope. - Going big on the delivery of 'ready steady bake' like a US national anthem singer. - After round 1 judging, presenters must whisper to the contestant. Why they must whisper is never explained. Perhaps Paul lashes out if someone pierces the solemnity of the moment or takes him out of his 'judgment zone'. - "I have the wonderful/horrible job" as if there are no other words in the English language with which to reveal this information. - How much Pru loves booze must be mentioned whenever someone adds alcohol to anything. Does she have a problem? - Contrived innuendo like Paul's nuts comment. Though obviously Pru's beaver was first class.

They definitely need to "mix" the tem(plate) up! The grounds for the tent always look inviting... surely a Takeshi's Castle/GBBO hybrid is inevitable? If watching try hard millenials getting tw*tt*d by Paul's morning baked baguette lance lunging at them like some sort of arthritic turtle head whose just realised there's lettuce for the taking, all the while running across an icing lubed surface staring down at a sea of lemon drizzle to reach Paul's golden sweaty handshake finish line, would ever get old and not smash the iplayer viewing figures then my name's not Jammy Saville-row-Bakery.

It does miss Matt Lucas's sense of humour a bit. I'm taking this as a slight on the brilliant Alison Hammond and I'm not having that.

She’s annoying me less than she did in the first episode, but having never seen her before I feel like nobody should be allowed to be both that Brummie and that loud.

Amazing that she’s pretty much the only big brother contestant to have enjoyed a decades long career

It’s better with Hammond. With Lucas, they fucked around all the time like they were a double act and the problem with that is Noel Fielding just isn’t funny.

I haven't watched this for maybe two years, to counter previous posts I cannot stand Alison Hammond, I'll not be tuning in anytime soon. But then TBH I think it lost it's charm when it switched from BBC to Ch4 and consequently Mel & Sue gave it the boot.

Funny that Mel is back on a ‘Bake off, but……’ show on Sunday. I do actually really like ‘Bake Off, but pottery’ but I’m not sure ‘…but woodwork’ is interesting enough to make an entire show about.

Amazing that she’s pretty much the only big brother contestant to have enjoyed a decades long career She wasn't even in Big Brother that long. Second person to be booted out, after her main contribution was to break some furniture by standing on it. It's kind of impressive she made anything out of it, let alone an at least two decades long presenting career. Normally can't stand her, but she hasn't been too bad on Bake Off.

I vaguely remember watching her on big brother (must have been one of the early series?) and then haven't seen her since then. Obviously I know she's been on TV, just nothing I've seen. She's fine, just not particularly amusing. I think it would be more fun if they had another comic instead.

Yes, I can take or leave her but I think she’s excellent on Bake off. Hope the BAFTA’s don’t have her back doing cringey interviews, but GBBO is a lot better with her.

Her fault over the countertop made me glol.
But yes it is getting a bit contrived these days. I might stay for pie week and then duck out.

Aye, her coat's definitely on a shoogly peg after having a few iffy weeks. The one from this week had been close to going for ages though.
Maybe matty next, saku certainly needs to get back to her initial quality.
