Just read the article and it's not actually MS rewards points. It's a separate voucher at 1% value (and US only anyway)
Might as well just stick with anybody else who gives you cashback.

If it was like MS Rewards I may have got one. Been doing MS Rewards for just under a year and managed to get £140 back spending no money, just a little of my time.
