With Starfield out, wanted to try and pick up something in the same sort of genre for the Switch. Has anyone got any suggestions? Was thinking maybe The Outer Worlds, anyone played it recently on how this is now with all the updates and patches, think this would be great for a handheld play if the port is OK, did read that when it was first released on the Switch it was no wonderful.
Similar games already played: Fallout 4, Mass Effect, Skyrim, Journey To The Savage Planet Edit, also NMS.
Thanks

Is it more the RPG theme you’re looking for, or space?
Or does it have to be a combination of both?

Tried Elite Dangerous for example and didn't click with me. Same for Monster Hunter: World, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim but adored Witcher 3.

Could try immersive sims like Deus Ex, Prey, Vampire Bloodlines, etc Basically FPS's with varying degrees of RPG elements, player choice and detailed worlds
edit: Oh does it need to be on Switch? Still worth seeking out if you get the chance

Rebel galaxy outlaw is available on the switch. Not heard of this game, read up some reviews and looks interested. Checked and strangely since its release in 2020, its never been on sale, always at full price on the eShop.

It's ok. A bit lacking in depth/variety. Good pool. Much more about flying around shooting things than about on-foot sections though. You can't actually walk around, though you can chat to people. And play pool.
I'd imagine if you mixed KotOR and Skyrim you'd end up with something pretty Starfieldy.
Though if Mass Effect clicked and KotOR didn't then that's a bit weird as they seemed very similar to me.
Bioshock?
Starlink? Everspace? Void Bastards?

it was in some bundles recently, I like it, it's almost but not quite one of those 7/10 games that's enjoyable enough without blowing your socks off. Never got round to finishing it but the time I did spend with it was good

Its basically Wing Commander: Privateer, remade in fancy 3D, if you played that in the 90s.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a solid 7/10 game. It's not bad, but you constantly feel that it could be much better. It's very unlike Starfield, though.
There isn't really anything similar out there that's newish. The Outer Worlds and Jedi: Survivor are probably the closest ones.

was that the one with Clive Owen?
(oh, and if the OP is still around, you say you've Mass Effected, but did you ever Mass Effect Andromeda? - the jank has almost entirely been patched out now, it's regularly on deep discount, and the story was fine, although I forgot everything about it the very second I finished it - edit: ahh, don't think it's on switch tho)

If by similar you mean Bethesda like sci fi rpg, then Outer Worlds is by far the closest.
