It’s on GamePass, if that’s an option. Being 2D, it can’t take much to run it PC-wise, if you don’t have an Xbox.

I have it downloaded on Gamepass, but I have an insane backlog at the moment. And I really should finish Dragon Quest 11 before starting another RPG!

I thoroughly enjoyed the demo, and if it wasn't for Starfield, I would have been all over Sea Of Stars this month. The animation is gorgeous, and it made me want a new Chrono or Golden Sun game.

So, uh... how's the English in this? Because the negative thing I've heard most about it, is that it may need a bit of a proof read.

Youthist About 60 hours in? Somewhere through the second chapter, from what I can remember. I was really enjoying it. I was doing every side quest I could, filling out the Monster List, etc… but I can’t remember why I put it down. It would have made sense to take a break after the first chapter, but I guess I wasn’t planning to stop. For now it’s all Zelda. Any other game I play has to be short or more action focused just to keep things varied. I can’t cope with two giant games at once!

I think Sabotage Studios are based in Quebec, so there might be the occasional thing that would make sense in French-Canadian but not in English.

They prefer French, but they do also speak English in Quebec.

Been playing the game since launch and its really good. Little slow at the start with the flashback. Its a really long game, must of put 20 hours in and don't think I'm half way through the game. The graphics and music are really good, it feels like a lost snes/ps1 "JRPG" classic
I mentioned in the general games thread, sometimes I feel the extra damage hit (like paper mario) feels off when it should of hit but there is relics that are gameplay helpers if you get stuck, eg refill HP after a battle, a lot of these helpers are in the game from shops to buy for some gold

Are you using the relics? I had them turned off in the demo, and that boss slaughtered me.

5 hrs in I've not seen anything to warrant the negative criticism of a bad English translation. Will see by the end I guess, but so far it is completely fine. I'm really enjoying it so far. I do think that Paper Mario esque button timing on attacks is a little more important than they try and downplay. Landing an attack right allows for double hits which is really important to reduce or negate enemies special attacks. And some of them can hit you pretty hard too. But as mentioned, there are relics to get the timing easier or add other modifiers. It's not overly difficult, the right amount of challenge to keep the regular fights interesting and have you plan out more than just hitting the attack.

I played about the first hour. Basically to the first boss in the Forbidden Cave (mostly to get the GamePass achievement). It’s cute. Very much has the charm of Super Nintendo or Mega Drive era RPG. The world has a bit of an Avatar or Korra vibe, I think.
I like the Super Mario RPG timed attack/defense boosts, though sometimes it’s hard to figure out when an enemy’s attack is gonna hit.
The music is lovely.
I don’t know if I’ll see it to the end, as Sea of Stars is mostly holding me over until Field of Stars comes unlocks on Tuesday. But I like it enough play some more tomorrow.

One annoying flaw in the game is the lack of decent fast travel, there is one but to get to certain place you have run through the all the levels. Also the map is not marked of the areas you visited

Played 20 min of this on PS5 and binned it... I never played this era of JRPGs (first one I played was FF7) so I think I just don't have any nostalgia for this type of game. I wonder if I'd enjoy it more as a handheld game on Switch.

Must of been playing for about 30/31 hours now and still not finished, must be near the end. I think the game could have a little of the fat cut off. Also have a better fast travel and map as I mentioned before
I really like the fact the devs don't make you grind for XP like other backwards game devs do, its lazy and bad game design. There is 1 late game enemy that puts up shield and its very over powered, specially when you get 2 of the sods and can't take down their spell lock in time

Wiped out all the optional boss fights, only 1 was a pain (also it was reuse of another boss) but they just ramped up the damage it could do. getting the 60 seashells seems a lazy way to pad out how to get the optional ending

Really enjoying this!
I'm not far into it (just about to fight Romaya on Wraith Island) and it doesn't do anything new (so far) but it's just so comforting and well put together.
Reminds me a lot of Golden Sun.

This is probably my next game once I have rinsed Starfield.
The demo left me super impressed. The visuals also feature some of the most gorgeous pixel art to have ever graced a video game.

Finished today with the true ending - really good, as mentioned above the 60 sea shells to get the true ending along with all the additional bits was a dogshit design decision, without that though, really enjoyed it. 40 hours roughly and just long enough, any longer and I think it would have outstayed it's welcome.
