Greetings, O geeky ones!
Mrs Boo works at home on a laptop but, having been back into the office a few times lately, is now missing the luxury of an extra screen. She works at a writing desk which is a family heirloom, so any external monitor will have to sit on the top (around head height) on a freestanding base - no clamps!
Because it wuld be at/above her eyeline, we really need the monitor (we're thinking something simple, around 22"/24", with a single HDMI port) to be able to tilt forward, rather than back. Probably no more than about 10/15 degrees.
Every basic monitor I've looked at comes with a fixed stand with no height/tilt adjustment, and most adjustible stands are either clamp style or for multiple screens.
Any suggestions for a monitor, or a monitor and separate stand that might solve the problem?
Cheers!
Boo

No idea about mounts to be honest, but having something above your eyeline sounds like a pretty bad idea from a DSE perspective. Definitely wouldn't want to spend the majority of my working hours craning my neck upwards.

Ergotron LX tilts back like a lot and forward a bit. It's good and I think they build cheaper own brand/white label versions for amazon
Edit: scratch all that, I really need to learn how to read, soz, missed the bit about no clamps

Why does it need to be so high? Just to be above the laptops screen?

Probably your best bet is to look at Dell's range, they do budget office monitors with full height, tilt, swivel adjustment. I was given this one for home working and it's decent. Good adjustability. Max height adjustment raises the bottom edge of the monitor about 18cm over the desk to get it over your laptop screen. Forward and back tilt, 10 degrees ish. www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-1920x1080-Monitor-DisplayPort-Warranty/dp/B096JVGP6Sor look for other options on Dell's own site. edit: or you can wall mount

I was gonna say that LG have some decent cheap 24in monitors and some of them come with adjustable stands. But I had a quick look on amazon UK and couldn't find the one I have. So their availability might be much less in the UK.

I picked up a cheap arm from Amazon for my monitor, orignally it was for a standard 27" and now has a 34" ultrawide on it. It's just about functional for the ultrawide, but a bit weak, no amount of tightening gives it the strength to hold this thing perfectly upright. Just a warning - it was this one www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0899J87PJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1and the monitor is 6.3kg, well within its supposed 8kg limit.

How wide is the writing desk? If it's too narrow to put dual screens side by side I'd start with looking at alternatives to the desk.
