Seems like carte blanche on recreating threads at the moment.
I've been replaying RE3 after only playing it once when it first released, and I have to say its really growing on me.
I thought it was like a weird truncated version of the original, which I am really fond of and clouded my opinion, but it's a lot better paced than I remember. It's also alot more spooky than I remember too.
Just reached the hospital!

I loved it as well. Thought it was brilliant and it's so short I'm happy to play through it multiple times, which I don't normally do.

I love RE2 for similar reasons, and proper comfort gaming now, but I think that was closer to nailing the original.
While 3 started well, It seemed to skip alot of what made the original so good.
But I had a pang to play if again, and I'm glad I did. I forgot how good it looks too, proper 'next gen'.

Yep, big fan of these two remakes. I've even bought the dual pack on sale in the hopes they run on Steam deck.
I remember receiving re3 for my one x right as the pandemic kicked off and thinking to myself, ok I have FF7 remake and re3 remake, I can do this lockdown shit!
I hope they do code veronica the same way.
Re2 remake was a decade defining game for me.

I thought the RE3 remake was really good.
It seemed to get some negative opinions at the time for being shorter, more linear and more action orientated than RE2 but that was pretty much true of the original too.

I bought RE3 Remake on clearance at a fraction of its usual price and had plenty of fun with it. It is very short but that really raises your motivation to replay it.
I still have my PS1 copy of the original, but, these days, I'd rather play this one. The hospital section is my personal highlight.

Definitely my most replayed RE game. For some reason I haven't gotten back into replaying RE8 but have done for this multiple times since. Its one of those games like Vanquish, I could just pop in and replay over a day or two and have a good time. There are still challenges to be done like the no healing run or no item box run I have to do so it keeps ot somewhat fresh each time.

RE8 doesn't really warrant more playthroughs IMO. I didn't like the NG system, if you want to play the game on harder difficulties you are basically forced to use it. The opening section is nigh on impossible without NG weapons on the hardest difficulty.
I'm a bit of a purist and I want to play them without 'cheating'. What's the fucking point in starting the game with a magnum and a grenade launcher and shit?
RE2 and 3 however, they really got it right on those. You can tell it was different teams making it. The remake crew need promoting for RE9.

As much as I loved RE8 I didn't really have any incentive to replay it after I finished it. You're right, the RE2 & 3 remakes I would just keep playing every so often.

It's weird because RE7 I played at least 3-4 times. I just cba with RE8, I think it is the NG plus thing for me.
Not sure I'll be that bothered about the DLC if that ever see's the light of day.

To be fair I never replayed RE7 either despite my intentions to. I think RE7 & 8 are brilliant games, but there's something about the way they are paced that my brain just wants me to go through them once and that's it.

And yet the consensus is that RE3 is disappointing as it cut bosses and areas from the original. I think what I like about RE3 replayability is that you can unlock those coins to regen health or take more damage but they're optional (at least on lower difficulties) and with the short length, it makes a no healing item run obtainable, should you wish to use them. They even changed up enemy placement in Inferno and Nightmare difficulty which keeps things interesting.
I dunno, the same people that complain about RE3 length usually goes hand in hand with people asking RE campaigns to be 30hrs or so which just isn't ideal for a survival horror. I already felt ready for RE8 to wrap it up 9 hrs in

I think 3make suffered from coming fairly soon after RE2make and that game is huge, with A/B scenarios on top.
But the original games were like that too. I remember being disappointed with the original RE3 because it felt really short.
History repeating.

For some reason I just didn't click with RE2 remake. Got a fair way into it on PC and just drifted away. Tried again on SX and couldn't get on with the controls.
I should really give it another shot, although the breezier campaign of 3 sounds more like my cuppa right now. RE3 was also my favourite back in the day.

I'd much rather a concise, enjoyable and replayable campaign than something that goes on and on. Case in point: I loved TLOU2, but at 25 odd hours, there's no way in hell I can be arsed to replay it. Ever. I never really get the negative reactions to the length of a game if it's under a certain amount of hours. They just go on and on and on and zzzzz.
It could have maybe done with more scenarios but apart from that it was always (as said above) a bit of a different beast to RE2 anyway.

Started it again for the 3rd time. Already at the police station at 1hr20.
It's interesting, it becomes less survival horror, and more like a puzzle game, finding the optimum route, using the fewest items or ammo and using the right gun for each situation.
I find myself making sure I have enough granades to deal with each encounter with nemesis, or making sure I have flame ammo for the grenade launcher for the penis monsters in the sewers.
I didn't give it enough credit when it first released, I'm starting to like it as much as I do 2, in fact they really compliment each other really well.

That’s exactly how I ended up feeling about it ZuluheroWhen I started RE3 I was super pissed off as it felt like a backward step. After platinumming it I love them both equally
