Edit for new page: JonFE - Definitely- it’s a lot of prawns so early in the game, but I think it’s well worth it. You’re normally swimming in upgrade fragments and nuggets by mid game, so it’s worth trying out a few weapons to see if they suit your play style. I had the starting Paladin Isaac’s sword , but it drove me nuts bouncing off walls in tight spaces, so I binned it. I don’t use a shield in this, as you take either damage anyway, so stick with the dual wield. That Orian Preacher hammer is a good one, you want something fairly quick for some enemies as they poise through too many slow attacks. Good luck 👍

Yeah, Lower Calrath is where I parked it and went back to Lies of P. It's just too annoying right now. I really hope they can sort it soon.

Not having Lies of P to go back to, means I'll persist with LotF, which I must admit got its hook on me, despite the technical shortcomings. I also tried the other lock-on settings and the one prioritising the closest enemy feels so much better (still not perfect, but I stopped fighting it), so one thing crossed off the list.
But yeah, the game stopping to a hault to let you view the scenery never gets old...

Or maybe Tears of the Kingdom finally...

Me & my stupid brain decided to lock us into the hidden ending, which means I’ve got to fight some Malenia clone with her cheating, flighty teleporting and lasers of death I’ve done quite a few of the side quests, and in the whole really, really enjoyed this. If I can get my ending past xxxx, then I’ll happily venture into NG+ and maybe try some Umbral or Inferno stuff. Good little game, but performance still needs sorting and some areas have too many gank squads. I’m looking at you Pyro witches

That's impressive. I didn't even know about the other endings until I'd finished it.
Hmm. Might re-roll after Lies of P and go for one of the other two.

Cheers. I’ve been following a walk through as the hidden ending is easily missed without some complicated steps.
I want to try Lies of P, just not sure about parry-heavy games; if it is that.

To be fair I'm shit at parrying and I've been getting on fine with it. Think I've parried about five times in 20 hours...

The latest patch buffs bosses & sub-bosses health by 10-20% whilst also buffing their damage by about 10%. I don’t agree with this move and the developers need to listen to the right people before they ruin their game. Some YTubers have been breezing through with pre-nerfed weapons & spells. Good for them, but it’s not my experience
I don’t know if Resident_Weevil is on here, but he left this comment on LotF, which I think sums up this game and the wider genre beautifully. Copied & pasted from EG
‘I think trust is absolutely vital between player and game in a soulslike. From playstyle to builds, and from mechanics to enemy strength (and so much more), we need to trust that our actions and decisions will function exactly how they were intended to function, but I can't for the life of me work out what the intent of this game actually is. Not that that applies anymore with frequent changes to every element of the game. I have no idea what this game wants to achieve and no idea if my build still does what it used to. How am I supposed to trust that?
Tough but fair is the core of a soulslike, if you die it's your fault, never the game's. That can't work if the rules of the game keep changing. How can anyone trust that?’

yeah I've been reading about this lastest update and I'm really not a fan of what they've done. At all. I found the bosses tough but fair. In fact one of my initial positives after finishing the game was how well balanced I thought the boss fights were. I genuinely thought they'd nailed that aspect.
So now of course they fuck it all up.
From what I've read it's not even a good balancing.
With all this fucking about, they are in real danger of pissing away a large portion of my goodwill. Not that it matters, I'm just one person, but from my own point of view I'll be pretty gutted if they take something that was enjoyable, playable and that I wanted to play again, and turned it into something I'll never go back to.

It's almost like they are too responsive to feedback. A weird thing to level at a dev, but they need to let this one bed in a bit more. The fucking elite mob are the ones feeding this shit back to them, the ones that devour the game multiple times and tweak their builds until their legs fall off. The common player is still going through the game or, like me, has finished and is pretty happy with the balance overall. They're reactive to a fault and it's fucking the game up. Get the performance ironed out guys.

Just entered the Mines and so far I haven't encountered any bosses that were utterly difficult in this. Sure Pieta gave me a run for my money, but with her beaten I rarely needed a third crossing with a boss (apart from the Hushed Saint, who I could have beaten a bit easier if I concentrated more on his telegraphed spear attacks or if I utilized the parasites for knocking him off his horse - both my mistakes, not the game being too difficult). That said, I'm not in favor of upping the difficulty by buffing bosses' health and damage output on a whiff; next they will be nerfing my Pieta's sword and I like it just the way it is

I’ve finished this and got the Umbral ending. The final boss was incredibly tough, but a proper rush when they went down after about 30 attempts? Great little game on the whole.
I’m going back into NG zero and laying waste to everyone, which is fun. There’s a few NPC quests I missed in first play so they’ll get done too. I bet I still whiff the platform jumps in Pilgrims perch though. 😂👍

Is multiplayer working for anyone on Xbox?
I'm trying to enter the "Slaughter Lampbearer" mode and it is constantly stuck in matchmaking.

Is multiplayer working for anyone on Xbox? I'm trying to enter the "Slaughter Lampbearer" mode and it is constantly stuck in matchmaking. I've tried it once or twice - for co-op rather than slaughtering. Once, after waiting for about 10 minutes, a PS player joined and helped me take down a boss. But it doesn't feel very reliable - either that or the player pool is so small that you struggle to summon.

Spurned Progeny is down - a pretty easy boss, which is not to say I took him down first time. I do feel I've missed a few things in Lower Calrath but am not dying to head back in. At least I got a Saintly Quintessence upgrade.
"Spurned Progeny". I know there's a reason for the name but still. There must be a soulsborne boss name generator out there somewhere.

Had a good run at the weekend, moving from the mine district, to sunless skein, through the cistern, the depths, the fief - I bloody loved that area, not least as I could unleash some inferno spells to devastating effect - magma surge destroyed Griefbound Rowena I also mopped up some optional bosses elsewhere - and actually that's where I became stuck and stopped: Paladin's Burden in The Path of Devotion. To put it mildly, I'm not a fan of bosses who heal themselves repeatedly. Got to find a better strategy for him. This game is so close to being great. If only they could sort the jank. I don't know if they are still working on this or have just given up.

Still playing this, certainly warmed up to it!
Radiance build slowly turning Umbral, sporting a +10 Exacter Scripture and a +10 Pieta's sword, 4 beacons cleansed (didn't know about the hidden ending earlier, so stuck with the cleanse ending), NG should be done by the time the final Wo Long DLC lands!
Latest patch seems to have improved performance on the XseX and if/when framerate hits bottom (which will happen sometimes unfortunately) I just close the game completely and restart the console for any memory leaks. It's a shame they cannot completely eradicate the performance issues, but there's a good, even great Soulslike game beneath them.

I've reached the point now where I'm recording gameplay of the worst glitches and sending it to their support. There's a few glaring ones that really take the shine off areas. If they sort them, and the stuttering, then as far as I'm concerned this is behind only the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne. I love it that much. The performance and shit popping in and out is putting me off a reroll just now though.

As much as I hate to go against Wunty when he's so passionate about LotF, almost everything I've seen about it makes me say Elden Ring has way more bang for your buck. Even excusing LotF's numerous performance issues, Elden Ring has much more variety in how to build your character, the abilities/spells you can use, the enemies you encounter and the locales you visit, much more content in general (yes there is some copy-pasting going on in the minor dungeons, but even removing that still leaves a lot), more memorable bosses/NPCs (thus far) and seemingly tighter controls (the camera and movement in LotF just feel weirdly... floaty and I can't put my finger on why). That's not to say LotF is a bad game. Its parallel worlds gimmick is well-executed, its world design and aesthetic are amazing if you enjoy that style, and if they manage to fix the problems with performance there's a pretty great game underneath it all. Even so, I just can't recommend it over Elden Ring, personally, unless you just prefer your Soulslikes to be shorter games.

Also, FWIW Elden Ring should be getting a DLC expansion soonish (we might know more after The Game Awards), and by all indications that will also be pretty big. So there's that to consider as well.
