I know the Spain story is another level, but between that Nike (rightfully) being attacked for refusing to do keeper tops and the Lionesses ghosting the fans at the airport you’d almost forget there was any football played this summer.
You’d have hoped FIFA would be more interested in stepping, even if it was only to protect the brand and image of their competition instead of letting it get steadily more fucked each day.
I suppose we’re lucky that the autumn friendlies are so close so kids and families will be able to reengage and get excited again soon rather than letting the bad taste fester in the media.

Sadly were quite a few people calling in to defend him on BBC this morning. ‘Was just a peck’ ‘Can’t do or say anything these days’ ‘She didn’t push him away’. Hopefully the vocal minority who feel compelled to call in to these things and just have to express thier amazing opinions.

The way this continues to spiral is astonishing. It really didn’t need to be this big a deal. If he’d have just said “in the heat of the moment I acted inappropriately and I’m very sorry” I’m pretty sure that would have been the end of it. It could now result in the downfall of the entire Spanish footballing system. Incredible.

I don't think anyone saw Spain winning would somehow expose the issues more than if they lost. We were all pretty convinced here that it was going to sweep the protesting players under the rug.

Like Kal says, even a single line apology could probably have put an end to it on day 1 if he’d just accepted that maybe it was a bit much to kiss someone on the mouth who wasn’t into or expecting it
