OK, let's get the obvious caveat out of the way first: it looks like Roblox, and the audio isn't great.
This game, made by 3 people in Unity, is the best Battlefield game I've played since BF2142. It's fucking great. It's £12.79 in Early Access and has 39 guns and 17 maps straight out of the gate. It plays absolutely beautifully:
- Gunplay is super responsive and satisfying with really good feeling hit registration
- Maps are fully destructible for the most part, beyond the level of destruction in the Bad Company games despite being significantly more dense and complex.
- The biggest matches are 147 vs 147!
- The maps aren't giant chokepoint spam fests
It's full of smart design decisions and cool features too. Getting shot can cause you to start bleeding; you have to bandage yourself or can bandage others to stop the bleeding. It's a bit controversial but it ensures that people have downtime in gunfights so things don't get too insane. Plus, *anyone* can revive other players; medics just do it faster and are the only ones who can recover people's health. What's more you can even drag downed bodies and move them into cover to revive them.
It's just ridiculously good fun and is pulling in big player counts on steam at the moment.
