Called it whilst watching the Sony State of Play the second you heard God's voice. So distinctive.
Absolutely loved the first game. Maybe not quite as good as Portal, but certainly up there as one of the best first person puzzlers.
Very much looking forward to this.

Gamescom previews starting to come out www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/the-talos-principle-2-preview-gamescom/Lightbeam-based puzzles return, but this time, they’re mostly centered around a new tool called the RGB Convertor, which combines the colors of two sources to create a beam of a third color. So, if a green switch needs to be activated, players have to connect the RGB convertor to a red source and a blue source. Bring multiple RGB converters into the mix, and players must carefully think about which color beams they need to create and where to place the convertors to solve the puzzle. Throughout the rest of the demo, I saw many other tools and abilities players can use. Tools include teleporters, drillers that make holes in particular walls, banks where players can swap items, fans, and activators that create large volumetric fields. There are also abilities like mind transfer, which lets players switch the body they control, and gravity tricks. Some puzzles, especially the more introductory ones, use only one mechanic, but The Talos Principle 2 demo started to shine when Croteam’s handcrafted puzzles combined these mechanics in exciting ways.

Nice. Have been meaning to replay the first (possibly the VR version) ahead of this, so had better get on that soon.

I should play the first as I have it, and I love Portal style games.
I gotta say though, despite everyone loving it, I've never really worked out what it is that's supposed to be great about it. It looks like just a bunch of light beam puzzles, which have been done in loads of games (including Portal) and aren't exactly that inspiring.
Maybe it's one of those games you just have to try to get it.

You could say the same for portal puzzles really. The joy is in how well the puzzle is designed.

There are also more than just light beams. It adds extra tools as it goes on.
But, yeah, it's mostly just how good the puzzle design is, rather than anything massively innovative about the actual puzzle types. It gets particularly interesting when you start going for the stars.
Plus, I personally really dig the philosophy theme. I'm sure that grates on some people (and it can mostly be ignored, if it doesn't interest you), but I'm all over that.

Yeah, the stars is where it gets really interesting.
The first time you une an item/beam from one puzzle section to interact with another section is great...

Not really, because portals were something new and amazing and mind-bending and great fun to play with. Light beam puzzles, not so much. But yeah, portal wouldn't have been so good if the puzzles had sucked. Seems like something that just needs to be tried to appreciate, rather than something with a killer innovative hook.

I still need a lot more of the symbols to unlock it all I think. I'd have to revisit it. I can't remember whether I'm further on in the ps version or the switch. I'll have to check that too. Haha, yeah, not bad mate - unemployed and generally just pissing about at the minute! You? Good win today for you

Yeah it’s a long time since I played so I can’t remember. I remember it’s a game I completed though which is rare nowadays. I’m good thanks. Keep thinking about returning to Elden Ring but i think i’m getting too old for those games

I was playing the VR version of the original, but got distracted by Spider-Man 2 and Mario. Should get back to that.
Will probably save the sequel for around Christmas time.

Somehow I didn't play much of the original. It should be right up my alley, and yet... just like The Witness, I kinda drifted away for whatever reason.
I think I'm gonna give it another go, see if I can finish it this time.

The audio puzzles fucked me off no end - never made it past them.

Not been able to spend much time with this - 4 areas in so far - but really enjoying the new puzzle elements. The size of the areas is vast, loads of exploring and no doubt Easter eggs all over the place.
The endless philosophical debate is getting on my tits a fair bit (even more so than the original), plus the voice acting is really low brow. The conversation trees with NPCs reminds me a lot of The Forbidden City in that regard. You can ignore a lot of it of course, but there's some interesting world and story building hidden in amongst the "What is life" navel gazing.
