The one I remember the best was AC: For Answer (the ACIV spin off), which had a load of short missions as I recall. I distinctly remember an early mission where you had to destroy a fleet of battleships under a strict time limit (about 3 minutes?) and replaying it over and over to get the mission grade higher.
Folks expecting a Soulsy style game are going to be in for a shock, I think. The closest it will ever come to feeling like more recent From games will probably be the boss battles.

In the Japanese stream they got a guy from the audience, gave him 60 seconds to outfit his AC and do a mission, with the only information being that he'd be defending some missiles. EG are big From fanboys, never expected anything less than a 5.
But I am glad it’s reviewing well, because the only From games I enjoy are their mech ones.

The Souls comparisons for this game mildly infuriate me. It's not like Aveum was forever compared to FIFA both being EA games. But everyone MUST KNOW that AC6 is from the Souls guys and it's THIS MUCH Soulsy.

I think it's understandable, Souls is what put them on the map so no doubt you'll have existing fans wondering how much Souls design is in the game, plus newcomers wondering if its just Dark Souls with mechs.

It's a useful thing to know because most people associate From only with Souls a lot more than do EA only with FIFA.
So it's Elden Ring with mechs then?

It's a bit rough looking, almost looks like a PS4 game at times. To be fair, they've never been state of the art on the graphics front. The best looking From game was (re)made by Bluepoint! In other news, my copy has arrived! Shame I might not even have the chance to play it until the weekend. /DisgruntledFace |

It looks really good, but very fast + unforgiving and I don’t think it’s for me at launch.

The reflection of the mech in a pool of water, partially lit by its boosters, smoke billowing out of the exhausts as dozens of incoming rounds is being blasted at you from all directions...its a good looking game.

I've gone for this, mainly because I like a (character) action game.
I'm a bit worried about the difficulty but hey ho, if it gets me of the Diablo 4 catnip.

Managed to get the first few missions done tonight and it's got its hooks into me already. They've all been pretty short and sweet so far. Can see myself dipping in and out for a mission or two here and there as and when I have the time over the weekend.
To anyone who's bought a physical copy: there's a 14gb update already. Just a heads-up.
