GT7 is amazing. Someone out there probably has a full racing seat, wheels, pedal and VR set-up and is having a hell of a time. This will be me tomorrow. Pretty sure mcgeeza has the full setup.

GT7 is amazing. Someone out there probably has a full racing seat, wheels, pedal and VR set-up and is having a hell of a time. Impressions from a user on another forum I'm on. He has the full setup. GT7 & VR is about as close to gaming Nirvana as I have ever experienced though. It's just amazing and anyone who vaguely enjoys racing games/sims, needs to play this. Being honest, i've not played recent PCVR with PC Racing Sims, so I am discounting those people from that comment (as i'm sure that they are just as good, if not better in some ways), but for anyone else, it's amazing. I honestly can't see anything else coming close on PSVR2 for me..for a while at least. I was just lapping a couple of tracks this morning Laguna Seca & Goodwood and it just felt so good. Visually it's really getting there and I would say it's just passed over the cross over point from where VR is a novelty, to where it becomes a proper method of playing games. There's no way I could ever go back to playing GT7 on a flat screen now.

I wonder if there is a market for VR kit “headsocks” to help wick away sweat but minimise it affecting your VR set headband? Could be a good game wear item?
“VR Head Condoms”… protect your head from your VR wet dreams… sweat it out, hand wash, air dry, re-wear… “don’t sweat the VR stuff”.

How are the graphics? Looked pretty rough on the last one, though an update improved or a bit. I hear they are better, but still rough in comparison to others. Yeah it looks very low res compared to pretty much everything else I’ve played. The art style doesn’t help it get away with it much either. Just played wipeout in theatre mode. I know it’s not proper VR but it’s still pretty great and a lot better than a TV.

Another question to the lucky ones already with PSVR2 kits from me and on behalf of anyone else with similar concerns… I have psoriatic arthritis which affects my hands. For example I get mild stress from regular dualsense gaming already and strong rumble games make this worse….
In the Eurogamer articles it was mentioned that the grip function on the Sense controllers could result in hand stress after fairly short gaming periods. Can anyone shed any further opinions on this as to how significant it is and also is it a regular issues from the majority or games played or is it more specific to certain games (the grip issues as far as I could tell was common from Horizon during the bow sections?) Thank you.
(Already had mention from others about ability to disable rumble on Dualsense which was great) I don’t know if there are calibration options for the grip function on the PSVR2 sense controllers to lessen hand stress from the required grip force being quite high and constant?

It usually takes a while for me to get queasy playing VR, but after just 30 minutes of Kayak VR last night I was *done*. I think it was the bobbing up and down on the water that did it for me - you haven't just got potential VR sickness to contend with, but sea sickness too. I think that puts my wish for a Wave Race style VR game to bed!
Gonna get the G29 out tonight and give GT7 a spin.

Have they sorted the scaling out in GT7? GT Sport felt like you were driving a miniature car or something. It feels good to me. Does the my hand is where the screen hand is well, and looking in the mirrors feels as natural as driving a real car to the point where I’m sure I’m turning/moving my head to the same degree. When you look across to the passenger door, the seat etc feels real and right. It’s really impressive.

How is No Man's Sky looking now? It was very cool on the PSVR 1 but was pretty hamstrung with the tech. Muuuuch better! After seeing you asking about it I installed it and have played for about 40 mins - repaired my suit and ship, flew into space, jumped to another system and landed on a planet to investigate a signal. It's all really smooth to play and much cleaner to look at (everything is much sharper). The screen door effect is basically gone. The image still doesn't feel completely clean but it's a 90% improvement. Interacting with the systems feels much better due to the sense controls actually being capable controllers, and the haptics are cool. The headset rumbles when you're flying into the atmosphere of a planet! I had no intention of playing this at all and now I'm really tempted to keep going.

Not quite. I have a T300 and Wheel Stand Pro but I actually use a Poang IKEA chair with them, which does the job and is pretty convenient as it is also my general gaming chair and just sits in the corner of the lounge. My missus is pretty chill, but I’m not sure she’d be too happy with a racing seat sat in the corner.

The stuff in the distance looked pretty low res for me and very similar to PSVR 1. Maybe I should give it another go.

It's definitely not as impressive as the new games in terms of asset and texture detail but compared to the VR1 I think it's a lot cleaner and less blurry. Over long distance maybe not so much but you don't really need to be analyzing long ranges. The gloves and accessing menus, things at interactable ranges, and the cockpit of the ship were all much improved, I thought.
I was really unimpressed when I played it on VR1 and I quickly dropped it. This I could play through again.

Oh I don't have a seat. I use a fishing chair. It really adds to the sexual allure I feel.

Actually fishing chair is probably overselling it, it's one of those shitty camping chairs. Planning on upgrading to a fishing chair soon though.

Damn RE:Village is scary in VR - never played the original but this transition gets me a little nervy. Just met the old hag and it's quite weird how she is so well rendered and animated. The crazy dudes with the scraggy hair are fearsome...they all are. Haven't got the castle yet either - I keep looking up and seeing it there...sitting...waiting...beckoning...brooding....nightmares tonight I think.

Keep the VR porn updates to yourself please. Don't worry, I'll be gone soon enough. Made me realise why Sony will probably never add PC support, despite it potentially making sense to do so if the hardware ever gets below cost. They wouldn’t want the potential headline of the product being used for long-distance air-lovin’.

I’ve got PA as well, interested that you find rumble a problem. I’m on drugs for it now as could barely walk, immune modulators. As a result my hands are much more useful too and could probably even play an fps or action game, but thankfully not interested as it’s high-risk. I ruined my hands pretty much thinking I could play Rock Band Piano back in the day, were totally unusable for a long time. It’s such a weird condition. Being unfit seems to make it worse, but exercise also makes it worse.

So what's the ideal "here non-gaming family member, try out VR" game this time around? On PSVR 1 it was the shark dive in my house. Thought it might be Kayak this time, but it sounds like that's a bit taxing on the tummy.

It still is Kayak. It has tour modes where you don’t need to paddle, it just slowly drifts you through the environments, but I’d think that gentle paddling would be fine. Just don’t make sharp turns.

Standing up seems to help a little with any nausea too. I wouldn’t do it for GT7 but it’s fine for Kayak.

Not got a PSVR2 but I have always found recreations of activities where you'd be sat down in real life by far the most compelling. I had a PSVR and have tried most pc ones over the years.
Driving is awesome, flying a plane is also really got good (ace combat with a custom top gun Spotify playlist was a guilty pleasure). Otherwise the god type games like Moss always felt a natural fit.
I've never tried a headset with eye tracking and foveated rendering. I'm interested, can you tell that it's happening? i.e. can you see the effect by quickly shifting where you are looking? Do you see a blur in your periphery?
