Fair enough. So played RE:Village - amazing visuals and atmosphere. VR does horror too well. Kayak is so pretty and relaxing it's like going on holiday for reals. Horizon - scale is amazing and, again, nice visuals. Have my eye on Demeo - if anyone gets it let me know and maybe we can have a session. PSN: Mr_Wonderstuff.

You know when you are driving and the sun comes through the front windscreen (or front passenger window), and it illuminates the dash board and shadows of the trees or fencing flicker all around you, and you feel that strong warmth of the sun on your face. I just had all that sitting in my bedroom with the curtains closed. I don’t know whether it was the cup of tea before hand but it’s feels so damn good. The lighting in GT7 does a great job of fooling the brain. Genuinely felt like I was being warmed by the sun.

I’m now set up and played Kayak for about 20 mins. Definitely a big improvement visually over PSVR1 but it’s obviously still not clean like watching a TV. I wasn’t expecting that but I can imagine anyone being slightly underwhelmed if it is what they expect. And it’s so much easier to plug in and play without the break-out box and decent controllers. My charge station should be arriving tomorrow and then it will always be ready to go, so as long as the games come I’ll happily use this for a long time.
Still, Kayak is beautiful and incredibly immersive. After getting out of the pool, I went to have a paddle around Antarctica and set about following an orca around swimming beneath me. I’ve stuck everything on charge while I do some cardio but I’m looking forward to checking out some other stuff later. My GF is going to love it this weekend.

Just tried a bit of Horizon but it was almost instant puke time when I started climbing. It’s mad how it tricks your brain. Unbelievable visuals but it’s going to take some getting used to for me.

Yeah it's weird. For me it felt like my subconscious slowly realising that it was being tricked is what made the vertigo and sickness go away.
Have they not released anything to ease people into it? It really really helps to get a few hours messing around with stationary stuff. The shark cage and stuff were ideal with the first one.

At first your subconscious is being tricked but eventually it stops. No there’s no freebies or anything this time.

Having a fan gently blow air in your face is supposed to help as well because it helps with orientation.
My worst vr experience was that wingsuit racing game. Jumped off the fucking cliff and my brain thought I was about to die as I plummeted towards the ground. Never went back to that one.

I love my PSVR and have spent dozens of hours enjoying Moss, Astro, Rez, Tetris, Beat Sabre Superhot etc
If I was going to have VR legs, I'd have them by now I'd hope - but my body just can't cope with any sustained movement. That Rush of Blood game for example destroys me. Tried DriveClub VR and as soon as I hit accelerate I had to take a big old nope.
I ruined my father in law four years ago by taking my setup to theirs on boxing day. He had been on the red wine and insisted on trying that game where you fly round as an eagle. Five mins in he nearly collapsed, took the PSVR off and he was so green it was incredible. Think he had to literally crawl to his bedroom the absolute state of the guy.
Would love to see some research on what % of people this happens too, even in my case where it happens despite trying to train yourself in. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 50% or more just anecdotally amongst IRL gamer mates.
The sickness thing is a right fucker because other than that, I'd be all in on VR. My first hour with Astro's Playroom was maybe the highlight of my 35 years gaming. Just wanted to invite everyone from the street round to experience it for themselves.

I'm so tempted to get a PS5 for psvr2. I loved the first psvr despite its limitations and fussiness and even though it's spent way too long packed away I still enthuse to people about how amazing VR can be. This looks like it can finally give usflat screen like visuals in a VR headset.

It took me years to get used to forward movement and I thought I never would. I got Red Matter late last year and was instantly uncomfortable with jumps. I played with teleport for a bit, left alone for a few months and recently got back to it to find out I was now fine. Forward movement in Horizon didn't bother me one bit. It's a huge relief.

Had a blast on mine last night. Got quite the haul with gamesharing. Played some Kayak, Zombieland, GT7 and the light brigade. Felt sick playing kayak initially so switched to Zombieland to regain some composure lol.
Overall though I'm really impressed. It's a good leap from psvr1 in terms of tech and from a hardware perspective, it's a lot easier to configure for comfort.
Tonight I shall try out Horizon, Pistol Whip and Pavlov.

I think it's a pretty good example of how quickly they can adapt to new situations.
I did find the wow factor lessened quite a bit once my brain fully realised it was being tricked though. I imagine the improved graphics and clarity should help a lot with that though.

Oh and the first couple of weeks when I was really hammering it I did kind of feel like I was losing grip on reality a bit at times. Like sitting at my computer screen and feeling like nothing was real. So you might have that to look forward to.
I'm pretty jealous now though, those first few months are amazing. Really feeling the urge to buy one now but I've just bought a car a few days ago so I'm in depths of buyers remorse for that at the minute.

Only played GT7 last night whilst waiting for Horizon to download. So will check that out after work. Desperate to get home. Think I might get one of Tetris, Thumper or Rez as well.

It keeps getting better over time. I'm someone that gets car sick very easily, but I also got into vr asap, received the oculus DK1 in March 2013, so after a decade of vr I'm totally used to it. If you're starting out, stop at the first sign of nausea, there's no powering through it, it only gets worse. But over time your brain realises it's not real, with the flip side indeed being that reality can feel fake at times.

Pistol Whip and Kayak VR are good workouts. I kinda like the idea of playing and burning a few calories as an added bonus.

I very stupidly assumed that the PSVR games would be compatible with PSVR2, so don't have any full games ready to test. I only managed to play the available demo's yesterday.
The first one I booted up was Star Wars: Tales from Galaxy's edge. Very very cool and definitely up there as a genuine "WOW" moment in gaming for me.
Tried the Resident Evil: village demo too. Also very good, but the training section felt ominous enough and I had to stop 2 or 3 times. Finally got to the actual game and wimped out after a few minutes. Definitely going to pick up again at some point.
I might buy Pistol Whip today and will eventually buy the Walking Dead game when it releases in March.
Really loving it so far though, only mild buyers remorse because of non backwards compatibility.
