Local is a bit of ballache though, having to share and adjust the headset continually.

Yeah, but I'd still like the option. At the moment just keeping track of scores on a course.

I'm getting a little tempted to get a PSVR2, het, we all need a treat sometime..
Intersted in anyone who's played GT in VR, but without the whole steering wheel config. Is the experience still a positive one with the DualSense?

Yeah, it's a more immersive version of the base game. If you enjoy racing games with a pad, racing games in VR is a step up from that.

Beat Saber is great. It's such a nice step up from PSVR1. Super clear, accurate control, new backgrounds, and lots more particles in the air when you split the blocks. Some of that I'm sure is on the PC versions but I've no experience with those so it's all new to me again.

Had a quick blast earlier. It is excellent, the improved tracking etc is massive. I liked it on PSVR but it could be a frustrating experience.

Anyone got the charging dock for the controllers? Saw something about someone's whose melted but that must be an isolated incidence...3rd party aren't massively cheaper either. Battery life is probably the biggest downside I've seen

I have the Sony one, yeah. For VR to be something I want to use it has to be simple to pick up and play so the charging doc was essential for me.

Ended up going with a 3rd party, which was half the price. Can send back to Amazon if crap.

The controllers can be a little fiddly to get in the dock I find. You sort of learn the technique eventually but they haven’t been well designed to just easily dock.
But yeah, beyond that they do the exact job you would want them to.

My boy (11) is now desperate for VR cos a couple of his mates have got it. He’s started saving but fuck me it’s a lot of money. I’m worried he’ll bounce off it, especially due to the motion sickness thing. He did play briefly at a gaming party but it’s a hell of an investment without really trying it. It’s his money I guess.
I would go for the cheaper quest 2 but I think his mates have psvr so that makes more sense long run.

It is a lot of cash. My eldest has loved it, but perhaps hasn't put as many hours in that I would have expected. I've played it way more than I expected though!

He’s sold a load of his switch games and has asked for money for his birthday. If that’s what he wants to spend his money on that’s fine. It’s never really appealed to me but if it’s there I’ll be sure to give it a go. Considering it is on my ps5 after all

That's what happened here too. We had to cover half as his present and he's used other birthday cash for a couple of games too. It is good fun. Still needs a proper system seller but Pistol Whip, Beat Saber and Mini Golf are excellent.
Edit: oh and GT7 of course. Which I don't play much of as my vr legs are crap still.

Played some Poker stars VR last night. That's good fun, a bit fiddly learning how to pick the cards up etc, and a bit weird with in game chat (I'm not much of an online gamer). Will definitely revisit, even if it's play money.

There’s some decent prices in the Summer sale, bought Moss 1+2 for £21.11 with Ps+ and Pistol Whip is £19.99.
Save some more cash by getting gift cards off Shopto.

Reading this thread it really sounds like the software and experiences haven't moved on much from PSVR1. I liked mine but hardly used it as there just wasn't much I wanted to play once the novelty had worn off.
GT7 is kind of cool I'll grant you but seems like everything is pretty much the same. I was playing Moss and Beat Saber on mine 4 years ago and the hardware didn't feel limiting to those games.

I don’t think you’re wrong but playing BS, or really any of the previously available games, really highlights how poor the original hardware - specifically the wands - actually were. This set-up is so much better, as it should be.
I want Synapse and Red Matter 2 next.

Firewall next week. Synapse looks great fun. The proper games are starting to emerge but even the experience with existing games is so much better.

The hardware certainly looks much improved, I guess my point is that I didn't stop playing PSVR due to frustrations with the first gen hardware (though the move controls were a bit crap, they were fine for novelty experiences), it was insufficiently engaging software that limited playtime. I was hoping to see games that really moved the VR genre forwards by now.

It’s a Catch-22. People don’t want to invest in the hardware because the software isn’t there, and devs won’t invest in making software if there’s not enough of a user base.
It’s a bit strange that Sony go to all the trouble of developing the hardware but don’t go the extra mile to develop some proper games to go with it. That would break the deadlock. They’ve been doing this long enough to know that. It’s as if they don’t fully believe in VR, but then why keep making new ones?

Making it incompatible with PSVR1 games hurt it too. Sony often gave VR games away, and those who were waiting on the 2 to play them no longer have that option.
