It's alright so far. Played maybe one hour. Love the aesthetic, cheesy characters and opening with black keys works for me! Might try with headphones as through the soundbar it feels like I always have to be ahead of the beat to hit in perfect time.

It's a great game.
See what the post story content it has and mop up the collectibles. Don't think I've hit the screenshot button so much while playing a game.

You guys, and the soundtrack, are making me really want to try this... despite the main character. Maybe he just seems horrendous because they compressed all his quips down into a short trailer?

On level 4 now. After being a bit meh during the first level I'm loving it now. I absolutely love the style and presentation of everything and the cutscenes are always excellent. Boss fights so far have been great fun but I still struggle with the timing, for me it seems the perfect hit is pressing it Inbetween the beat hits and I'm normally really good at rhythm games.
Re comment above I normally hate cheesy characters but for some reasons I'm loving the cheesy nature of the main character as it fits in with the game perfectly. Nice light hearted fun.

What makes this tricky for me is getting my head around timing the button presses. I have rhythm, but my head doesn't want to wait a full beat between pressing a button and seeing the attack.
I have to keep counting beats in my head and timing my button presses accordingly, because if I look at the attack animations on screen, my brain instinctively thinks that my button presses and attacks are occuring at exactly the same time, which obviously isn't the case. But my brain tries to sync with that and I end up skipping a button press in a combo.

The way bosses attack on beat really helps with the dodging etc.

It’s the same for me as for bichii. Rather than pressing X or Y when the circles meet, pressing when it’s about halfway is when I’m landing those perfects. Throws me off a bit, but I guess my TV just has bad input lag or something.

Is there a calibration tool similar to Guitar Hero/Rock Band?
Bit worried as I'm about to start this tonight on a 15 year old plasma.

Oddly I can dodge and parry on time all the time but the attacks seem off beat.

Yeah, same here. The parry in particular is easy to land for me.

TBF, the music of the game does help with the beat, but also if you just play it like a DMC game you will find yourself on the beat more times than not as while not explicit that game's combo timing is extremely similar especially with things like a rest between beats.

Yeah. And it’s really just the last hit that I tend to miss. So I think mostly ignoring the onscreen circle bit leads to more success for me.

Just started this, finished the first level. Seems fun. When I get in the zone, I can land hits on the beat all the time, even dashing around constantly.
Only, I absolutely have to play this on the laptop. Tried on the TV, and even just minimal lag (with game mode on) was enough to throw my timing off completely. Guess I'm very sensitive to rhythm. The controller doesn't help either, since the face buttons have a "run" time, so to speak. Much better with the mouse, which is a lot faster to click.
So yeah, this is one for the laptop. Good thing it runs pretty well even on weak hardware. Shame about VRAM management - the game at its peak seems to take a little less than 3.5GB, which is juuuust above the 3.3GB that my GTX 1650 has available. That means I do occasionally get some stuttering in new areas. Sigh. I wish devs would try to stick to max 3.3GB for a little longer, after all 4GB cards are still very common.

It's going on a little bit too long for me but it's still excellent and a perfect example of why I love game pass so much.

I've found it much better to play using headphones wired to the controller. My TV was introducing just enough lag to make it really hard to match the beat. Headphones - no issues.

Finished this yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second half of the game is better than the first and I thought it just kept on getting better up until the end. Once I started spamming using the companions in battles they were going very pretty quickly, couldn’t see much of what was going on mind but it felt cool.
CNMN is one of my fav in game characters from any series
Quick tip to those playing - claim your rewards from the wall of fame. I didn’t do this until post game and had 400k bolts to collect, I am an idiot.

God damn that Roquefort boss fight was some of the coolest shit I've done in a game for a while.

Finished this up. Loved it. I'm a DMC fan anyway so the combat was up my street. But it looks gorgeous and the music was great. So many grinning moments throughout.
Going back for a second run to mop up and up difficulty. I also read the hints a little more and realised the next button hit is as the attack connects so finding the combat flow easier now too.

Coming to Switch if one report is true.
Though the 'source' also said Persona 6 would be PS exclusive just days before it was announced all games would be Multiplatform going forward.

I'm back into this in earnest lately and really enjoying it - once you get the parry ability the game is just ton more fun and playable.
The whole thing is just so damn likeable.

I've just started this again, after perhaps playing an hour when it came out. Yeah, this is brilliant! it's really clicking now. I can see why they want this on multiple consoles, as it'll be a big seller.

Wonder if they’ll implement some dual sense haptics?
