Happy New Year Rat fans, post your games here. I don't think we have a thread already ? 1: Spider-Man: Miles Morales (ps5) beat on 01/01/23. 9/10Really enjoyable, Spider-man and the universe has always been my fav superhero. I love what insomniac is doing with the IP and look forward to Spidey 2, maybe later this year ? I did struggle with the final Boss fight probably down to me being rubbish with prolonged button pressing in multi staged fights

I think it might be a whle before I join this thread... I have no outstanding games close to completion.
In fact, tonight I'll choose what to start next. Either Marathon 2, or Gunman Chronicles, or maybe I'll dig in the backlog and ee what I can find.

Well I have a low bar to beat this year after only finishing 14 games last year. Should have two ready for the list soon that didn't quite get finished last year though....

Duff, you'll be pleased to see my first completion is Xbox!
#1 - 02/01 - As Dusk Falls (Series X)
Really enjoyed it, great story and had me gripped throughout. I don't really feel the need to go back and see other choices etc as felt that the story has so many branches that it's my story, if that makes sense.
Next up, continue High On Life and finish Trails in the Sky 2!

Humperfunk and mine was a PS game something wrong here lol. I also liked ADF. Like you I tend to play this type of game once, unless I want to "whore" a few easy cheveo's, that can complete my daily cheveo quest on Gamepass!

1. Chaos;Head Noah (NSW) (3/1/23) (8.5/10)
Finally finished all routes on CH;N (missing 1 CG somehow...), taking 54hrs 54 min apparently. The Switch port translation was decent enough despite fearing the worst (understanding some Japanese may have helped me though). I did dock it half a point for being the "all ages" version meaning ending B was horribly truncated (if you play watch a youtube video of the original PC B ending as it makes a lot of difference). Apparently some other bits of violence were removed but nothing stood out as too out of place so probably fairly minor.
The expanded story routes over the original version definitely improve the game and I found the main character better overall thn my first playthrough on PC years ago (knowing the story beats my have helped too). Voice acting is mostly good and the music is nice and fitting. The story keeps a generally darker tone with some silliness (and a little fan service as to be expected). I enjoyed it.
For those looking at PC versions the Committee of Zero fan patch should hopefully be out soon which will reinsert the edited scenes and improve the translation so worth keeping an eye out for. One day I may get PC versions and try a full Sci;Adv run with CoZ patches but not any time soon...
Hopefully will finish Soul Hackers 2 soon too and decide on my next Switch game to play.

Well, thought it would take a while, but turns out some games aren't very long.
01. 03/01 - Marathon 2: Durandal (PC) - 7/10
Two steps forward, one step back.

We'll see how long I can keep this up, but I'm 1 game down in 2023.
1. Lil' Gator Game (Switch) 3/5
Its a highly charming and sweet indie game with some genuinely great dialogue and some lovely game progression. However, it is also quite a basic and repetitive gameplay experience.
If this is a first time project, the team have successfully implemented enough mechanics and systems to build a fully-fledged action/adventure game and, in that respect, this is a fantastic first stepping stone. I'm not sure who the target audience for this game is, however.

#1 - 02/01 - As Dusk Falls (Series X) #2 - 06/01 - Trails in the Sky Second Chapter (Steam Deck)
Obviously did the majority of this last year but anyway, game 2 done!
Focus is now High On Life on Xbox, on handheld I think I will try Citizen Sleeper. Wanted to do Sports Story next but reviews aren't actually great...

I hear Sports Story is pretty broken at the moment. A few tales of broken saves and severe bugs.

Once the 19th comes around, everything will be dropped for Persona 3 though. One of my absolute all time favourite games, haven't played it since Portable in 2011 I think.

The P3P Portable remake is making me think about playing the P3FES Undub on an emulator on Steam Deck . Have owned P3P for a long time but never managed to start that version, probably still buy the remake at some point, a double-pack physical would have got a preorder though...

Look I don't dare if its childish, laughed so much playing it. Took around 10 hours with a little bit of exploration.
Now to continue Citizen Sleeper, but also wondering if I can power through to story on Plague Tale Requiem whilst it's on Gamepass...

1: Spider-Man: Miles Morales (ps5) beat on 01/01/23. 9/10
2:Elex (xbox) beat on10/01/23. 9/10
So after 65+ hours and reaching lvl 39 I have completed the story and seen the credits roll, still many sides to do and skills to learn. As with all PB games the learning curve is steep and I have to say on reflection I'm not that sure I actually enjoyed the first 20,30 hours! but also with PB games they are rewarding once you start to get skills and better weapons, armour etc. I liked the story but think I chose the wrong "ending" based on choices I had made throughout the game, oh well, I will live with that, or rather my enemies will...I have Elex 2 ready to go but I will play something non rpg (just bought Martha is dead, so likely that) before that and as I said I'm not finished with Elex just yet.
Onward and upward

Interesting "walking sim" with some very mature subject matter. It is set in Italy during WWII. You take the role of a sister investigating the death/murder of her twin. The game is only around 7 hours long played in fp, with zero actual combat, which makes a pleasant change, it is very graphic however. For some reason it ran pretty poorly on my X, seemed to have a constant "stutter" when moving ?

There are a couple of Gamepass games that run very poorly on Series X, for some reason. Moonglow Bay(?) stuttered so much that I required eye drops for about 2 days. It honestly shredded my eyes in about 10 minutes.

Another absolute beaut. Got most of the endings I think and saw the vast majority of the game. Lovely start to the year.
Won't complete anything for a while now as the next game will be Persona 3 on PS4, but will keep pushing along Danganronpa 3 on Switch until then.

1. Chaos;Head Noah (NSW) (3/1/23) (8.5/10) 2. Soul Hackers 2 (PS5) (20/1/23) (9/10) 2.1 Lost Numbers DLC
Finished Soul Hackers 2 with both endings and all sidequests completed. Also did all of the Lost Numbers DLC content too bar the final challenge boss. 62 hours playthrough and 78% trophies (could probably quickly add a few more but hey...).
Note: I played this after the patch with speed boost options was released and used fast battle speed and running throughout moat of the game, it probably would have felt a lot more sluggish without. I also bought the season pass on sale before starting (but didn't use items or DLC demons, only the story DLC).
With the DLC as part if it I enjoyed the pace of the game, switching regularly between story, sude quests and DLC as I saw fit. The DLC dungeon is a bit bland in design but dealable with, the story and fights for the DLC I enjoyed. I also enjoyed tge setting and story for the main game and the art style worked surprisingly well. Music was decent and Japanese voices were good (did not try the English dub). DLC had more challenging moments and a few bits in the main game but it was fairly well balanced if you did the side quests. I played on normal. If you like SMT/Persona it is worth a look. Stronger characters than mainline SMT but a simpler social system than Persona (which worked for me). Dungeon design is generally fairly simple but there were a few stand outs that were more interesting.
Probably leave off killing the bonus boss (and NG+ for the far future). Not sure what console game to play next, started Yomawari 3 on Switch but just received Fire Emblem Engage too. Also started Primordia on Steam Deck.

Played Leon A and Claire 2nd B on normal difficulty. Played in RT mode and looked quite pretty and no over-nasty framerates. Didn't Complete 4th Survivor or amy Ghost Survivors yet but have finished the main story. The environments and creatures generally looked very nice and atmospheric (bar the blacks being over grey in HDR on an OLED...). Gameplay was generally fun, with a few tight moments early on where I eas low or actually ran put of ammo, but at the end I had a bit too much hoarded. Playing Nemesis now. I may buy Village at some point too (and 4 remake) bit more likely to play RE1 Remake first as never did finish that on GC....
Fire Emblem is my handheld game (keeping short games on PS5 ready for Ishin)

And done a runthrough if RE3. Shorter than RE2 Remake (8 hours completion: and 40% trophies) but looked prettier (blacks worked better too) and the dodge move added to playability over 2. Didn't get as low on ammo as my runs on RE2 though. Again played with HDR and RT on and looked pretty and ran nicely enough for me. Nemesis felt less iconic with a much more muted "Stars" than I remember from my last play of classic RE3 (also don't really remember the section that got excised). Not sure which shorter console game to play next...

Loved it and had forgotten loads. 19 hours played on easy as I wanted to do a run-through with only the one weapon,(and also I'm shite!) which I did by the latter chapters I had the plasma cutter fully spec'd with the 3 buffs unlocked. Atmosphere, lighting and sound were all so bloody good as was the combat, I can't really think of any negatives, I got stuck on one puzzle for a bit but that was just me being stupid I think. As I mentioned I did only use 1 gun for entire campaign I am looking forward to mixing it up a bit on NG+. I missed a good few side missions almost without realising so the completion time for 2nd run will be longer I think as I would like to mop up and see everything. I will also play on at least medium difficulty. Hopefully it sells well enough to do a remake of 2 Onward and upward, next new start will be Hogwarts on Friday, really looking forward to that.

One of my all time favourite games and whilst Persona 5 has obviously moved the gameplay along significantly, this still remains a 10/10 for me. Amazing game.
Going to keep plugging away at the Theatrhythm demo as it carries over to the next game, I'm away from Friday until Thursday so will return nicely for release. I think anyway, might be the week after!

I was planning to try and do both Jill and Chris routes on normal but felt a bit under the weather, costing me several days of potential game time, and I dropped the difficulty to easy (normal was pushing it a bit for my first proper playthrough with ammo management but in hindsight Easy (not the very easy which I can't see much point in the existence of unless you want superquick playthroughs for no rescue trophies etc) was a bit too easy with me not even using the magnum until Tyrant or even used the grenade launcher at all and had decent amount of ammo left for the rest too).
I still enjoyed it and had some bits of tension despite the ease. Played in 4:3 as designed. Got 34% trophies. The 2 routes are less critical than in 2 so counted this as a completion. May do Chris at some point or go on to 0 where I have to again choose the difficulty. Game still looks fairly pretty deapite the barebones upscaling used. Directional control was I think new for this port too. Now to just play Fire Emblem until I get a weekend off to play Ishin.

1. Lil' Gator Game (Switch) 3/5 2. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (Switch) 5/5
I was aiming for an average of 2 games completed every month, but I am already a week behind schedule.
I'm about half way through Goldeneye at the moment and I have at least a few more hours left of Mutant Year Zero, so there's room to get back on track. I'm still deciding whether or not I like Hi-Fi Rush...

Suprise 3rd game of the year completed! Metroid Dread. I am waiting for a physical copy of Metroid Prime Remastered, so I booted this up instead. It gets better the more you play of it. I think that was my 6th time completing it, again with 100% of the items collected.
Now, I am trying to finish Goldeneye on 00 Agent, but Control is tough. Could be a while!
