Instead of hoarding water, you could also buy a water filter that lets you take river, lake or puddle water and make it potable. Those are usually good for 1000 - 5000 liters of water, and are much easier to store than the water equivalent, even if you factor in some water bags that you'll need as well.
The official recommendation from the civil services of Switzerland is 9 liters of water per person, which should cover 3-4 days. So if you store 2 sixpacks of 1.5 liter bottles per person, you already got a week covered.
A barrel to store rainwater coming from the roof could also be a good long-term investment. Where I live, you still see some gutter piping with a sort of spout that you can fold out of the vertical drainage pipe, so that the water doesn't disappear in the canalisation, but can be harvested instead.
I know you guys mostly use this topic for some laughs, but really it's quite silly how dependent on global supply lines our modern lives are.

Thanks for the tips. The water filter and bags are definitely going on the shopping list

No, no, its roll then duck.
But yes, for a little island, we are heavily reliant on other places and I wouldn't trust our river water in the slightest.

I've got a spud gun and some fire crackers. That's all I need to hunt my own food.

Confession time- I did a bit of prepping in the absolute lamest way possible. Whenever it was after the Brexit vote when people were panicking about food distribution, I got a big plastic crate and filled it with stuff like dried milk, rice, oats, soup powder, that kind of thing. I kept it in the garage “just in case”. This would have been 2018 maybe?
Anyway fast forward 4-5 years and it’s still somewhere back there. I dread to think what I’ll find if I open it now.
That’s the thing about being a true prepper - if you’re serious about it, it’s a lifelong commitment. You have to keep checking and replacing things or they’ll be in a right state when you finally need them.

It's why the only exercise I do in the gym is wood choppers on the cable machine.
Next time there's a power cut I'll be able to cave in the heads of the first person to come to the door and loot their shoelaces
Shoelaces will be the real currency in the coming end times.

On a more serious note, Mrs hedben has to take steroid tablets every day, or she’d get gradually more ill over weeks and then die. That’s more the kind of disruption that worries me these days- what if certain meds become scarce long-term.
Thankfully loads of people take steroids for loads of reasons, so even a small disruption in supply would cause a right stink. But it concerned me enough to look into how I’d go about acquiring them in bulk without a prescription, if the need arose.

For a full on preppers guide take a glance at www.ukpreppersguide.co.uk/If you ignore all the obvious nut job brexit gammon nonsense, it’s got a few useful ideas on what might be worth thinking about. A wind up/solar radio was one thing I thought might be useful in day to day power cuts, not just the apocalypse.

If it was really really cold, you could soak a shoelace in water, let it freeze and you could throw it like a javelin through some fool's homemade chainmail

With the return of ads on FG it’s basically the end times.

Reminds me of all those US billionaires building Fallout Shelters/guarded communities or buying up land in New Zealand until the government stopped it.
Depending on who you ask they were apparently scared of different kinds of trouble, like the Trumpocalpyse or the downtrodden masses rising up or something like that.
No clue if that's still going, or if it was just a fad that has already passed again.

Love the fact that it's a got home gym. Nothing like a good Peloton session after a few zombie hordes have passed through.

What's Domesday?
Is that when folk with thinning hair finally accept reality & shave it down?

What's Domesday? Is that when folk with thinning hair finally accept reality & shave it down? It's the day we finally move to the domed cities from Chrono Trigger. Then a giant space tick shows up and wipes us out.
