Forza Motorsport 8
I like the Horizon games ok, but never quite as much as the main series. Something about having access to the fast cars from the very start never sat quite right with me

Probably treat myself to a steam deckin the new year.. no reason in particular, but it's a shiny new thing

It's kinda crazy to think that in some cases we're mostly looking forward to 8 this or 16 that.

Already pre-ordered Trails to Azure and Anonymous;Code. If the physical release of Romancing Saga Minstrel Song counts (despite the digital release being this year) that will likely be bought. Possibly also Labyrinth of Galleria. In the more mainstream stuff FF XVI is a distinct possibility too. Front Mission 2 Remake if it turns out well too. Cyberpunk DLC if I get around to finishing the main game. A western copy of Akai Katana too if/when it appears.
The two Like a Dragon/Yakuza games will be day one buys. My son will likely buy BOTW 2. Theatrhythm if it has decent controls. Fire Emblem likely at some point even if it hasn't really caught my attention too much yet. A physical of Project Zero 4 would be tempting too.

2023 is looking insanely good. I guess much that would have been coming out this year got pushed back due to COVID hitting in the middle of their development.
Of those already mentioned, looking forward to Hogwarts and Breath of the Wild 2. Also Silksong. Absolutely loved Hollow Knight, so can't wait to see what they have been cooking up for the sequel.
Things not mentioned, 2023 is looking like it will see a bit of an RTS comeback. Homeworld 3 should be interesting and hope Company of Heroes 3 will be worth getting. Intrigued by the ex-Blizzard developers game, Stormgate, although I also have a feeling it is going to turn out a bit shit. All previews seem to focus on the service model as opposed to the actual gameplay.
Balder's Gate 3 is going to be massive too. I'm one of those that is very happy that they are sticking with what the devs are used to with turn based combat, instead of the series standard of real time with pause, a system that has always caused me to bounce off the classic games and others of their ilk. Divinity Original Sin 2 was excellent and this is shaping up to be an even more polished game. I've dabbled in the early access and loved what I've seen so far.
Tech-wise, might pick up a new GPU. Waiting to see what reviews for the new Radeon cards are like and may well go for one from team red for a change. If they aren't as good as hoped for, then I may hold off another year. If a Switch 2 comes out, I might get one. It would have been a day one buy for me pre-Steam Deck, but now it will be a wait and see what launch line up is like. Backwards compatibility is also a must (this is all assuming what is next from Nintendo is a successor to the Switch, of course).

From that list it looks like 2023 will be a quiet year again.
Only
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Diablo IV
Oh and that stalker? game coming to game pass and starfield.
That's not too bad I guess five big titles. If Zelda is half as good as botw it will still be amazing. Diablo 3 I played for a ridiculous amount of time so 4 could potentially take up most of my year.

You not a Resident Evil fan bichii2 ? RE4 is the one unmissable game for me. Seems like a proper remake, rather than just a graphics upgrade

Yeah I really liked village and enjoyed the 2 remake. Back when 4 came out I wasn't a fan. Only played for an hour or two and binned it. I know it's highly regarded though so I'll probably eventually play it but I won't be in a rush.

Looking forward to my PSVR2 and crying like a baby RE:Village. It will be interesting to see the difference from my original Rift.

I really don't think I have the balls to play the new Resi games in VR.

bichii2 Yeah I get that, I think RE4 only really hits its stride when you start getting some decent weapons. Then it becomes arguably the best game ever made, so many iconic sequences I still play through it at least once a year now but just use my old saves with all the extra unlocked stuff

I will definitely get the Horizon DLC and am quite tempted by Hogwarts (if it reviews well). I must try out the Forspoken demo as I’m undecided on that at the moment.
Metroid Prime 4 would be on the list but I doubt that’s coming in 2023.
Otherwise I will be continuing to plough through my backlog. Witcher 3 is definitely an priority and I suspect that alone is likely to take me several months.
I will also keep an eye on what Gamepass offers up of course.

From what I'm seeing now Diablo IV is still looking like it might turn out well, but we'll see. Will be like 60 or perhaps even 70 € on release anyway.

I've been put off Diablo IV by it's battlepass system.
I'm glad people are excited about things, but gaming-wise 2023 looks as dull as 2022.

I will buy any good strategy / builder games that come to xbox with a bit of effort made. Stellaris, Surviving Mars, Cities, Bannerlord are all great, lets have Dyson (Perhaps Slightly Smaller) Sphere Program and TW3 too. Please.

Dead space Resi4 Botw2
However, interested in d4 and metroid 4 if they come out, and possibly dead island 2 as I really liked the first one.
Fatal frame 4 might be interesting. If they don't fuck it up

No concrete plans next year. I'm hoping FF7 Remake and P5 Royal see some kind of price drop/sale that I can feel okay about picking them up again on PC.
I don't particularly keep up-to-date on new games, and normally just decide when they come out if I'm interested in picking something up; I have enough in the backlog to keep me busy.
I'm quite keen to pick up a new SSD at some point. My existing 1TB struggles a bit now with the size of some games. I also, when building the PC, made the silly mistake of having a separate 250gb drive for my windows install, which occasionally causes me hassles as its a mite too tight. Was wondering if I could maybe grab a 2TB ssd, then transfer my games there, then transfer my windows install onto the 1TB drive, and use the 250 for, well, whatever. The prices seem quite high though, so may need a sale to see this through.

Still buying these games in the hope one of them gets close to the way I felt over VII.

The rumours about Switch2 have died down a bit, but wouldn’t that also be coming out next year?

The rumours about Switch2 have died down a bit, but wouldn’t that also be coming out next year? I hope so. I think we might get a pro model to launch aside Zelda or at least good indication for a March 2024 date for a Switch 2. Love the switch but the last six months has shown it up a little but when it comes to running games.

The new Zelda almost certainly - only a question of whether there's a new console to go with it (and if there is, I might wait a bit). Switch had its last hurrah for me with Animal Crossing during lockdown - barely touched it since - but I like the symmetry of welcoming in and seeing out the machine on the same series.
I'm also strangely committed to playing Hogwarts, even though the pedigree of the devs mean it'll be AA-Jank at best, and a technical shitshow at worst.
Silkworm is a given, if that materialises, along with Jedi: Survivor. See also Diablo 4. Plus any DLC for Elden Ring.
Hopefully the PS5 will deliver something I want in the coming year as well. Having worked my way through its exclusives in the past few months, it's only really GT7 that made it worth buying the console so far.
Other than that, it's all GP stuff for me so far. Starfield being the big one, which isn't too far away now.
That's something of a depressingly small list. Hopefully there'll be some additional surprises released that I'm not expecting.

Most definitely Dead Space, Resi 4, SF6, Diablo 4, Spiderman 2 and whatever free shit is on Gamepass. I guess everything else is whatever the reviews say

There’s nothing on the list that’s an insta-buy for me. I have a shedload of stuff I’ve picked up in sales and haven’t touched.
Silksong would be a definite, and BG3 if it gets an official release. Octopath 2, maybe. I did enjoy the first one but it was SO LONG. I’ll probably wait for it to come down in price.
Is Hogwarts getting a VR release? That might tip me over. Other than that, I’d like a new XCOM and a new Elder Scrolls, but we’re unlikely to get either this year.
I will certainly get the DLC for Cyberpunk. For Elden Ring, I dunno, maybe.

Boomerang rentals mean I'll get to play a lot of what's released each year. Next year is shaping up to be a good one from what I've seen.
