I wouldn’t say I often get emotionally invested in the outcomes with my Comics Movies, but I do really hope Black Panther 2 is somehow, somehow, good, despite the odds. I really felt for all those devastated African American kids who’d just been elated by the first movie, when Chadwick Boseman very suddenly died. Suddenly to them, at least.
Quite amazing to think he was secretly dealing with terminal colon cancer the whole time he played that character (he was diagnosed shortly after filming Civil War from what I read). Makes him seem like quite the.. badass might not be the best word I guess.

This does seem like a cursed endeavour especially as Letitia Wright is by all accounts a low key anti vax moron.

You're right, it would have been better if he had said "Die, bad robots die!".

Wow I'd totally forgotten the origin of that line except for that it was The Simpsons, I don't even really recognise the episode, but "With a dry cool wit like that could be an action hero." is still something my friends and I regularly say. Fascinating.

"Die, Robot" is the only acceptable line. Because it sounds like "I, Robot". Which is the name of the movie. And I'm definitely not overexplaining things. Or "Bye, Robot". OK I'll stop. Could put a twist on it, and he could have said "hi, robot!" Which wouldn't really make sense but would have a certain charm.

The Honest Trailer for Eternals has surely the best joke title I’ve seen them do. “Eternal Runtime of the Plotless Grind”

To interrupt the accent chat quickly; So I’ve done an almost complete 180 degree turn on my opinion about Eternals. When I went to see it in the cinema I was thoroughly underwhelmed and quite disappointed. But since watching it with my kids on Disney+.. well I actually like it now. I really like it! When you know that Ikaris just murdered Ajak it recontextualises his reactions in the first half of the film. There are so many subtle clues regarding his unhappiness. When I watched it the first time I was annoyed with his wooden acting; second time and you know he is struggling with having just killed his “mother” after having a religious crisis. Also I have a much greater appreciation for how the relationship between Thena and Gilgamesh is portrayed; Thena’s desperation to keep her personality in the face of certain decline, Gilgameshes sacrifice (even though it might end up killing him). I don’t know, it just really landed well on subsequent watches. There are still things I think are a missed opportunity, but honestly I can’t remember the last time my opinion about a film changed so much.

That Jon Ronson not-Frank Sidebottom film Frank completely flipped for me on a second viewing. First time around its a quirky indie comedy about a weird musician with a funny head. Then the final scenes reveal how deeply mentally ill he is and it completely recontextualised all of his actions to that point. A second viewing then becomes a lot more of a bleak drama about a man who can’t cope with the world and retreats ever deeper into his own protective bubble.
I thought it was good both times but it was a totally different experience.

I started watching videos like this one below, fills out all the blanks I wouldn't have a clue about after seeing a Marvel film. Easter eggs and what not for the new Spiderman, loads of follow up videos as well. All the spoilers in it.

That Morbius trailer (I know, not technically proper MCU, but MCU adjacent) is pretty awful.
I don't really think anyone was clamouring for a Morbius film (I know I'm totally out of the comic fandom these days, but was he ever more than a C-list character?), and it's was off to a shaky start when they cast Jared Leto, but the trailer just looks utterly derivative with frankly awful dialogue. "I have enhanced speed and strength, and some kind of bat-radar" is not exactly a good line.
Though I did like seeing Keaton's supposed Vulture cameo at the of the trailer.

Was he even as high as C-list?
I guess Sony just want to stake a claim on anyone they might have the rights to regardless of quality

Marvel made an industry-changing cinema juggernaut out of the characters that no studio wanted the film rights to.
You can bet Sony will try any movie from Spider-Man Also-Ran characters they have the rights to.

Was he even as high as C-list? In the comics Morbius was definitely upper C-list in the '80s and some of the '90s, maybe even B-list for a little while, but I think that's pushing it. The original ending of Blade (1998) had him in it, intending to bring him in for a sequel. The appeal was lost on me but somehow he was vaguely popular. Now? Jambo has it right - E skating on D. I think him featuring in the Spider-Man cartoon and being totally lame basically ruined him for anyone under a certain age because his backstory is just awful even by Marvel standards (sort of a lame mash-up of the Lizard and Spider-Man's origin). Add in Jared Leto and it's pretty wild that Morbius even got made. There isn't even a chance it's enjoyable dumb fun like the Venom movie (which I actually quite liked, and is certainly pretty spot-on for the more "anti-hero" versions of Venom).

It’s so weird that it seems like everyone hates Jared Leto, and yet he’s constantly cast in high-profile roles. Hopefully if his lead-role movie flops his bankability rating in Hollywood will drop to the point that better actors will get his key roles in (Suicide Squad, Blade Runner, whatever)

Whatsisface who played Quicksilver in Age of Ultron has been cast in a Kraven movie. Thus guaranteeing it will be terrible. He's a total non-actor. Might as well have cast Jason Statham. Shit that would probably have been better because at least it would have been amusing.

Bit harsh, I think Aaron-Taylor Johnson is an alright actor. He seems to be doing something well to keep getting work.
