The finale already? Hawkeye has been weird. It’s been very enjoyable, there’s obviously been a few big moments and twists, but it also doesn’t feel like much has actually happened.

Saw Spidey last night. Managed to get a 9 o'clock screening that only had about dozen people in it and able to sit far away from people. Really, really good fun. I feel that the Spiderman films in the MCU have been consistently the most enjoyable set of films and this doesn't change that. Bit of shame that it has come out at this time though, as this is one you probably want to see in a packed cinema. It is just such crowd pleaser. Hands up, who wanted to let out a slight sound of disappointment when that Spiderman took off his mask and it wasn't Toby Maguire?

I've managed to avoid spoilers, which is nice. But then I also don't really do forums or YouTube things.
Will go after Christmas. Self imposed lockdown this week until the big day. Hopefully should be quieter then if all the parents have taken their kids this week.

Fingers crossed that cinemas aren't shut by then, in whatever inevitable announcement we get on or just after Boxing Day. I was planning on the new Matrix film during Chrimbo Limbo, but fully expecting that the doors will be closed by then.

Bit of a misfire for me. In a city that's awash with Alien tech and gadgets is his leather outfit important? Does it have his name tag stitched in it? The Wet Bandit/Tracksuit gang are a one episode joke that's been stretched too thin and the Mum/Jack story line is just a bit meh, with a relatively small cast of characters Mum is the bad guy and Jack is a good guy twist was expected. The last episode was better, I like Black Widow 2 and the Yelena actress (though hamming it up in a Eastern European accent) makes things more interesting. Feels like it's 6 episodes of prologue to the real Kingpin story line.

I’m sure I read that Hawkeye was originally proposed or commissioned as a movie and then worked into a tv series after rather than the others all being tv originals which probably accounts for a lot of why it feels like its been so brief. And why you get episodes like feel like two or three scenes stretched out to fit the run time like the car chase episode.
That said I’m enjoying it and it might be my favourite of the four tv shows

Pretty much every marvel show feels like that, including the Netflix ones. No matter how long they are they seem to be at least 50% padding.

Surprisingly, my viewing room had a much louder pop when Andrew came out than when Tobey did. Also, probably the biggest teary "ohhhhhhhh" moment was when he saved MJ. Obviously, nobody read that if you haven't seen No Way Home yet.

A fair bit of the Marvel TV stuff has felt a bit “post credit stinger extrapolated out to series” to be fair. Not a criticism on quality, necessarily. Either that or they fundamentally didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things (boat mortgage basically). Outside of Endgame I don’t think they’ve had a good handle “let’s have closure but let’s keep things going”, although I appreciate that’s a difficult thing to pull off.

I can't work out how to do spoilers tags (seriously admins, can you add a button or a permanent tutorial or something)
Anway, in the spider-man film, how come the green goblin is as strong as thanos?

On mobile, (spoiler)text here(/spoiler) only use square brackets instead of regular ones. On desktop, there’s a button if you go into the full reply mode and not the quick reply.

The serum he took made him strong in the og movie. He threw the dude that was administering the test to him through the glass, and then went toe-to-toe with Spidey later in the film.

If I remember correctly, the serum he took in the original 2002 film was trying recreate the Super Soldier serum which created Captain America. The issue with his serum was that it drove the patient insane, in this case, himself.

Going to have get geeky and say no as Captain America is not in that film universe so there wasn't any Marvel Super Soldier Serum as it were.

Someone can rewatch it and verify one way or another, but I don't think that'd stop them from making a reference. They even mention Superman at one point and he isn't even a Marvel.

Nah you got it wrong, they actually mention Super Ted. It's an easy mistake to make.

I think the novelization had some flavor text about super soldier stuff, and there’s certainly cross references to other Marvel properties here and there (like name dropping Dr Strange in 2) but nothing explicit in 1. I watched it a couple of days ago.

Doesn’t Norman demonstrate his super soldier serum to the Army top brass fellow? He thinks it will not get to human trials, and threatens to cut funding so Norman tests it on himself.

Yeah, he’s competing with Quest Aerospace for a military weapon contract. He’s doing a suit and glider with a performance enhancing serum, Quest are doing this weird exo mech that looks like the machine from Inner Space.

Yeah, but again it wasn't the Captain America super soldier serum.

I think its fine to assume the generic supersoldier serum Osborne was making was the army wanting Cap’s recreated. There’s nothing to say the Tobyverse didn’t have its own Cap.

There is. The Raimi-verse is just Spidey.

Is Into the Spiderverse more or less kid friendly than Spiderman 1/2 and/or Homecoming?

I think its fine to assume the generic supersoldier serum Osborne was making was the army wanting Cap’s recreated. There’s nothing to say the Tobyverse didn’t have its own Cap. There’s an army of lawyers. But yeah, it was transparently a Super Soldier Serum substitute, regardless of those weren’t the exact words used in the film. The main spoiler from No Way Home I’ve been wanting to mention is that there are no spoilers, just confirmations of what was obviously going to happen. Aunt May dying was probably the only spoiler, but I wasn’t surprised by it because someone had posted that they cried during the film, so it seemed obvious. I posted a while back that Garfield would save MJ to close an arc for his character, but it was still a really nice moment when it came.

Is Into the Spiderverse more or less kid friendly than Spiderman 1/2 and/or Homecoming? It’s a PG so there’s fisticuffs, but I don’t remember anything too grim. It’s been ages since I watched it, but the BBFC says it’s mild.
