I always thought RDJ wanted out of the MCU, or at least he definitely seemed to not want to do his own movies after Iron Man 3, and just appear in supporting/ensemble roles.
I guess being a marvel villain fits with that, but it was still a bit of a surprise that he'd even want to do it.

He was probably convinced with something along the lines of "you'll just need to show up on set for two scenes with the mask off, then the rest can be done in a voice recording booth"
He must be so rich by now that the incentive of more money barely registers.

I dunno, I can totally imagine money being an incentive.
Sure he doesn't need it, but from I can tell most multi-millionaires don't *need* it but will heavily pursue getting more.

The multiverse despite what people say positives about, it's just a great way for Disney/Marvel to be absolutely bloody lazy. And it goes with their ideas for Star Wars (the majority of) and Indy. Just reel out the same old shit.

It may have been as simple as them having begged him to do them a favour. After the Kang Kerfuffle I suspect they are quite risk averse at the moment and heās a safe pair of hands, ironically.
But I do think they should have used the multiverse to just reset and recast the whole shebang rather than limping the current continuity along and mashing square pegs in round holes.
It was quite funny at the avengers campus in Disney. All of the theming and stunt shows for everyone other than spider man are for characters who are long dead. Itās like a mausoleum. Those now iconic P1/2 wandering around meeting kids have all been gone for nearly ten years.

I'm still a bit that RDJ hasn't been in a Marvel movie for *seven years*. That means Endgame was 7 years ago!

IIRC the Russos really had to persuade him that killing off Tony was a good idea. He probably quite liked showing up about once every three years in effectively a supporting role and pocketing about $75m.

California had the Spider-Man show and a Doctor Strange show when I went a couple of years ago. Think I saw those two and Captain Marvel wondering around, so it was all current characters. Maybe they have mixed things up since. Honestly, for their big franchise, the Avengers Campus was a bit rubbish. The Spider-Man show was probably the best bit, with the Spider-Man ride being a bit meh. Didn't do the Guardians ride, although likely would prefer the original Twilight Zone theming anyway. It certainly is nothing compared to the Star Wars area over in the main park.

Yeah, the Paris one. I liked the spider-man ride, web shooters go pew pew, but the whole area is very sterile, for sure.
Three actual āattractionsā, one is a new ride, one is the rebranded Aerosmith coaster and the other is a paid photo opportunity. They do have more actors and āspontaneousā stuff going on but thatās about it.

I suspect RDJ misses being part of the MCU circus CrĆØme BrĆ»lĆ©e style.
Back from Deadpool 3. Loved it and well worth the watch. It has all the dick jokes you yearn for.

I think the announcement of RDJ has have marvel a shot in the arm as it got reported everywhere. The mass media didn't give a fuck about the kang dysentery film. But they can't keep bringing RDJ back to prop up the MCU unless he is going to do until he is 90?

Puck News reports that Downey is set to receive more than $100 million in salary and bonuses for playing Dr. Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Additionally, Variety reports that the actorās deal includes perks such as private jet travel, dedicated security, and a whole ātrailer encampment.ā
Nice work if you can get it

A lot of chatter that this really is a Stark variant called Victor Von Doom. If that's true that would be shite.

Unless they're going to have him full CG and put on an accent (which also makes the casting kind of pointless) it'll be hard to do otherwise. Having Doom look and sound exactly like Stark but not be Stark would be...weird.

In all the parks, to be fair, but including Paris. Which I believe makes Wolverine the first X-Man to appear in a Disney park?

At the very least I'm looking forward to seeing the design of Doom. I also find it hilarious that they literally went with a Poochie and Kang is just...gone. I mean not that the general audience give a shit or would even notice in any meaningful way. In all fairness, even in the 70s and 80s, Kang was a shit villain. He makes mores sense post Fantastic Four. Not that I think they can bring him back without ten, lengthy, post credits exposition scenes. Whereas the build up to Thanos worked. Doom doesnāt need the FF, they just work better together. As for RDJ, not sure on this one. Not doubting his credentials, but it feels like theyāre going with a knock off Doom.

Following on from Deadpool and Wolverine, thereās apparently a big ol push to have Cavillrine as the official one for the X-Men going forward, which Iād be onboard with, even in his five seconds of screen time I thought he nailed it. Also didnāt notice the first time that he does his little Mission Impossible arm reload when he gets his claws out, hah.

I feel very strongly that the only Wolverine in the MCU after Secret Wars should be Dafne Keen's Laura.

I didnāt realise all eight Spiderman films are getting re-released this summer/autumn.
I know its started already but I wonder if seeing the Amazing films in such close proximity to 3 and the MCU ones will help with its critical reappraisal of actually being an ok pair of films. Garfield was good as one of the decadeās oldest teenagers at the very least, even if the action is fairly generic.

I re-watched all the Spidey movies before No Way Home came out, and (a bit like my recent Fox re-watch), it did throw up some surprises (I actually preferred Spidey 1 to Spidey 2, for instance). I'd never seen the Amazing films before, though, and whilst I think Amazing 1 was okay - better than Spidey 3, I'd say, although there's not much in it - I do think Amazing 2 is fairly terrible. It's just got that very messy, throw-everything-in, far-too-long, too-many-baddies vibe that a lot of these comic book adaptations have, where you feel - rightly or wrongly - that it's all studio-mandated to tick boxes and move pieces around the board ready for some big thing they've got planned.
It did, however, lead very nicely into No Way Home. Seeing the films in close connection really reinforced certain arcs and moments in the latter film.

I love comic books, comic book movies all there jazz. I cringed very hard watching ASM 2. It's up there with SM3 for it's horrible dialogue although SM3 pips it for the general terrible acting and the hidden character called coincidence.

We were watching Amazing Spiderman 1 at new year and reasonably enjoying it. Then we looked at the progress bar and realised there was over an hour left. It has good bits, but it's way too long. Heard 2 is worse, but skipped that one and watched a 5 min youtube summary. Garfield was great in No Way Home though. Still think 2 was the best, but it's a bit more flawed than I remember, and No Way Home gives it a run for its money.
PS/ Not seen anything about them getting re-released over here. Though I doubt I'd bother going to the movie theater for any of them except maybe 2.

I think Garfield was a great Spiderman not a great Peter Parker and I think with a better script, no attempts to make it edgy he could have really smashed the role. It was just a strange film series that forgot that Spiderman is supposed to be fun, sure it will always have some pathos but it forgot that fun should have been upfront first and foremost.

Garfield in No Way Home wasn't actually that much like in his movies. He was much more in the humorous/bumbling Parker vein and less in the cool brooding skater vein. Which worked a lot better iirc.
Tbf, Peter goes through an absolutely miserable time in both spiderman 2 and 3.
