Kit Harrington and Richard Madden lol. Yes, stars of international sensation Game of Thrones, which Harrington was basically the face of. Madden has also appeared in big films such as 1917 and Rocketman. He regularly appears in discussions about who will be the next James Bond.

Honestly the only performance that matched the originals - byw which I broadly mean Downey Jr, Evans, and Hemsworth, was Boseman.
It's not even that the other actors aren't good, but the way they are written and performed makes them feel like supporting characters at best.
Actually, I think the GotG cast were pretty charismatic, but they've felt a bit different... and most of those have moved on.
Maybe it's just me, but it kind of feels like we're at the points in the comics where the writers had ran out of ideas so were just trying to mash any old characters together to try and make something stick. Like when The Fantastic Four somehow ended up being Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk and Ghost Rider.

Those two stole every scene they were in Errr, did they? I don't think anyone came out of that movie looking great.
When you've got the hots for either of them (especially Hayek) you won't care how they act anyway; I know I didn't

It felt like that was supposed to be their next big thing and it was terrible, killing all momentum. Getting the woman who made the film about an amazing woman shitting in her truck didn’t help.
Also annoying in Dr Strange 2 having Reed Richards perfectly cast, being wasted, not used since, and possibly not the final proper casting when they make the F4 film.
They’ve had quite the run of poor decisions.
I’ve given up on Secret Wars after 3 episodes, it was awful.

I think that's unfair to the rest of the cast who had...well absolutely nothing to work with. I don’t know. It’s maybe unfair to Kumail, who had to learn a dance for some fuckin’ reason. But Richard Madden? That Irish guy Kal mentioned? Gemma Chan? They were written to be important characters. Was the script or editing good? No. But they made zero efforts, where Angelina outshined them in the one fuckin’ scene she had something to do.

Director: Oh, you see you're losing your mind but you love your friends so, so, much. Jolie: Ah,right, got it...../speaks in a strained voice... I'm... losing my...MIND! Director: Brilliant!

Ok Kal, if you don't think Kit Harrington is a household name with the target demographic of a Marvel film than we will have to agree to disagree. I still don't think we can say starpower is an issue with the current batch of films. Can totally agree they aren't using them in an effective way though.

Kit Harrington is not in the same league of fame as RDJ. This is not a matter of opinion.

I think he's arguably equivalent to where Hemsworth or Pratt were when they joined the MCU though.
I don't really care if they're big stars or not if they get the job done. Which they largely haven't

Robert Downey is a very peculiar example to use though. He was a star in the 80s and 90s, but got arrested for his cocaine addiction then came out years later and studios didn’t want to insure him. He did have an Oscar for Chaplin, but he was also an ex-con and it’s a matter of fact that both he and Jon Favreau have told many times, that Favreau had to fight to get him cast. Of course he killed it, and his star only grew exponentially, but if you really wanted to use Iron Man 1 as your “it had bigger stars” example, Samuel L Jackson, Kris Kristofferson, Gwenyth Paltrow and Terrence Howard were better examples at that time.
Same with Chris Pine and Hemsworth. They were teen movie hearthrobs, not A-list stars.

Which they largely haven't We’ve come a long way from the original point being made, which is that the series originally gained credibility with big names and has tailed off now to the point where it needs another credibility injection. So yes by the time they got to GotG they were thriving off the halo effect of those original big names.

Ok that's great and all and I do know who Kris Kristofferson is, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't in Iron Man. Ever.

You didn’t like Angie losing her mind? Granted it’s still the worst film Marvel has produced. But I like those two, if nothing else. Still got to give that to Thor 2

If you get great actors in, then only give them one film, you’re wasting great talent and screwing yourself later. Bale was excellent, but he should’ve been better utilised.
Eternals. Even the ship was dull. Which takes some doing.
