Was alright. A bit dull. Reckon all this shapeshifting will be annoying by the end.
Plus points for the local West Yorkshire area doubling up as Moscow though.

At least they had the decency to establish an in-universe reason for all the main Skrulls to remain in human form as recognisable actors for as much time as possible

What is up with all the lamps? I'm sure there was another 5 or 6 out of shot. Deeply symbolic. The lamps resemble flying saucers. Old Man Nick Fury is surrounded on all sides, beaten down and dejected. Can he overcome his crisis of faith and do what needs be done in only 6 episodes? 6 UFO lamps, 6 episodes, 6 clocks. Time is running out. Also, 666, Mephisto confirmed.

I'm not sold on the skrull motivation. They're pissed they haven't got their own planet yet so their first recourse is genocide? They're already living the life they want to live, they aren't persecuted or resource starved or dying.
Presumably there's more to it but Fury doesn't think to ask.

Can they turn into Lamps?

Waffle, the Skrulls were peaceful, benevolent aliens. They had an empire, that was in the process of conquering the galaxy; when they came up against the Kree and defeated.
They played nice until Thanos wiped out half the galaxy. Some of them have had enough and reverted to type.

But that would only work if Thanos stuck his hand in a portal. Though given the number of super-powered individuals in play, I think there were dozens of plot holes if you stop and think about it too much. I mean, I don't think they ever established why Dr Strange couldn't use the time stone to rewind time again and again. Though maybe they explained in the Dr Strange movie why he couldn't repeat that trick? I don't remember.

Obviously it’s full of holes, but that’s a particularly funny one as there’s a very lengthy scene when a whole bunch of them including Strange are trying to get his gauntlet off, and that would have been a very good solution.

That sounds confusing. I guess that's why most movies avoid it. The good guys could be the Green Skrulls. The bad guys could be the Red Skrulls. They could fight for control of Castle Grayskrull

I am hoping that Secret Invasion ties into Falcon and Winter Soldier. There are similarities with the what is going on, who is on what side, ad are we the good guy’s espionage element. I love that the Skrulls are involved as a multi faceted group.

Plus if they’re worried about superheroes fighting the Skrull because the Skrull will copy their powers then Falcon would do the job.

Theres one that ultimately copies the whole fantastic four, so they might be setting that up by the back door or something.
I have to say, I was quite surprised by how shit this is. Boring, absurd premise, bad spycraft capers and its just ugly. Schlepping around in 'eastern europe' and, god, the opening credits are just hideous. Just all around really bad.

I had read the opening credits were AI "created" so I guess that explains something.

Surprised how much coverage the AI titles are getting when all of Quantumania was

I find it hard to believe Disney were just being stingy with the AI credits. I do tend to believe their story that it was intended to relate to themes in the show and thought they were being really clever. It was very poorly considered though.

Its lose/lose. You dont know its AI and think its just hideously ugly or you know its AI (and possibly understand its context) and think its just hideously ugly.
I keep going back to Spider-Verse, but I watch both of them last week and, comparatively, the utter lack of care or artistry displayed in the mainline MCU now is absolutely jarring.

Something something Strange couldn't create a portal directly around Thanos' arm, he'd have to move it towards him like he did to Loki, and injure/teleport whoever was holding onto the arm in the process. Or maybe he could, but it still would affect the others as well. Or maybe Thanos was just too tough at that point for the portal to get through his skin/flesh... Tbh pretty much all plot holes after Strange and the others arrive on Titan can be explained/handwaved away with "X didn't/Y had to happen in the one out of 14 million futures Strange witnessed where they won". You might as well be asking why nobody took a second to stop Starlord from punching Thanos awake, for instance (surely one of them could have taken the time, Mantis seemed to be handling Thanos well enough up to that point).

I enjoyed the first episode mostly because of the interaction between Fury, Hill, and Talos (all of whom give great performances), but I agree with Bongo in that it was pretty flat. The whole series is directed by the same guy so I hope he can pull out some better action and spy stuff, because every spy in the first episode was pretty rubbish at being a spy.

because every spy in the first episode was pretty rubbish at being a spy. Ah, the James Bond technique of spying? ie: go straight up to the main bad guy and tell him your real name. As should be clear by now, I'm not watching this and have no idea. I do like Hill though. The way she'd just pop up in the background from time to time being subtly cool and professional.

As an MCU zealout, I would say this was true since the first Miles film. It was fucking great. And, despite my criticism of the ending of the second film, they struck gold a second time. Iron Man was a great film, the sequels less so. Thor was okay, apart from the third one, which was excellent, and two and four, which were entertaining messes. The Captain America films are consistently good, two of the best MCU films. Dr Strange, entertaining, and visual love fests. Spider-Man, oddly better than they should be due to the casting. And Guardians, they are great, they introduced so much humour, that got over used when it wasn’t appropriate in subsequent films. But GotG 3 was dark in a great way. But, if my daughter enjoyed those first two films, but was grown up enough to handle three, then that might be the nature discussion. But the first film, top five, probably top three marvel films.

Episode 2 of Secret Invasion was an improvement, possibly because there weren't any scenes of spies being rubbish at spying, but it still fell into the trap of good scenes, great acting, but basically nothing happening in the whole episode.
I'm worried this is going to turn into one of those "should have been a movie" shows.

Don Cheadle makes everything better but its still a bit turd. And they seem to have written themselves into that stupid corner where you are supposed to think Olivia Colman is The Real Monster All Along but you just think 'yeah, fair enough. At least shes actually doing something'

This is feeling really flat. It doesn't feel tense at all. Olivia Coleman is the highlight, but everything else is forgettable. As Hill said, Fury was always 3 moves ahead and this version of Fury could've been anyone else and you'd not notice. I'm hoping it gets better, but so far I'm not loving it!

Sounds like one to wait until it’s all been on then stick it on in the background rather than looking forward to it.
None of the tv stuff feels like it’s been worth the brand dilution. I think Hawkeye is the only one that I actually enjoyed, and maybe some of Moon Knight but that’s largely because it was Oscar Isaac. Both would’ve been better as films.
