Googled it and apparently its ranch. Cool ranch. Glad that's cleared up. Americas love of ranch is one of those things that solidifies it as a properly foreign country. People kind of assume we are similar because we all speak English but, no. Their love of Ranch marks them as foreign as any other country. That and that they don’t do brown sauce or salad cream, surely? Never trust a country that doesn’t do salad cream. Individuals can dislike it, but you need the option.

I eat tons of crisps, I absolutely love them. However I’ve set myself a challenge to cut down as I eat too many I’ve not had a bag for a week, this thread is not helping my resolve Mmmmmmmmm……crisps Why would you do this? I like some crisps on a friday night. Is a life without the occasional crisp worth living?

Crisps and beer. So good they named a song and TV show after them.

My generous Alex Garland (and Garland adjacent) ratings in full. Scores based on how much I felt I’d enjoyed the film as the credits rolled. Men is probably the weakest but its production values are so far behind the others it looks more like TV than Devs does. 28 Days Later isn’t available on any streaming service but my memory of it is a 9.
Beach - 8 28 Days Later - n/a Sunshine - 8.5 28 Weeks Later - 8 Never Let Me Go - 9 Dredd - 10 Ex Machina - 8 Annihilation - 9 Devs - 9 Men - 8

Surprised Sunshine getting a higher score than Ex Machina. Especially as you liked Devs so much. Similar sort of vibe for me.

I liked Ex Machina a lot but feel like it could have given us a bit more. Restraint is one of the big strengths of most if his screenplays but I think a bit more Gleeson-Isaac content might’ve helped beef it up a little.
I know you can’t do as much in a movie as a tv show but Forrest in Devs seems a more realised tech billionaire than Oscar Isaac’s character does in Ex Machina.
But also I scores Sunshine up because my main memory from seeing it at release was disappointment but this time it exceeded expections by a long way. And that it still looks like it would blow most new sci-fi away with its visual design and effects was big too.
Speaking of restraint - Devs being a standalone limited series ending where the story demands is a decision I really like. It could easily have become a multi-season bloated thing with the plot getting ever more strung out and nonsensical, lots of “are we in a simulation” nonsense used to resurrect characters or pull the rug for no reason but to add another twist to stretch it out further.

In fairness I haven't seen RD in yonks, so should probably give it another go to see if it still holds up. Hollywood just didn't click with me. Might need to give it another chance, as I would've said the same about IB at one point too.

I still need to watch Death Proof and the two Kill Bill films. Death Proof is the one that needs to be watched as a double feature, isn’t it?

Not really, nah. Two completely different films that don't really complement each other imo. I've got the double feature Blu-ray IIRC but never bothered watching it.
Planet Terror feels like Rodriguez was actually trying to make a schlocky grindhouse film, and it's a lot of fun for it.
Deathproof is just a bottom tier Tarantino film with a decent car chase.

Isn't the Grindhouse version shorter than the version by itself?

Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Kill Bill Part 1 Jackie Brown
Django Unchained
Inglorious Basterds Kill Bill Part 2 Death Proof The Hateful Eight
(Not seen: Once Upon A Time In Hollywood)
Though I go back and forwards on whether Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction is better.

Since we done got up to Endgame, while only skipping a few movies, I guess I can now give an official MCU ranking. Spiderman 1 7.5 (We started with Spiderman, so sue me) Spiderman 2 9 Captain Marvel 7 Iron Man 8 The Incredible Hulk - Iron Man 2 - Thor 7.5 Captain America 6.5 Avengers Assemble 8.5 Iron Man 3 9 Thor 2 - Dark World 6.5 Winter Soldier 9 Guardians of the Galaxy 8 Avengers Age of Ultron 7 Ant Man 7.5 Captain America Civil War 7.5 Doctor Strange - Guardians of the Galaxy 2 9 Spiderman Homecoming 7 Thor 3 - Ragnarok 8 Black Panther 7 Avengers - Infinity War 10 Ant Man and the Wasp 7.5 Avengers Endgame 9 Spiderman Far from Home 6.5 Spiderman No way home 8 Doctor Strange 2 - Multiverse of Madness 8.5 Thor 4 - Love and Thunder 6 ------------------------------------------------------- Which means, if I'm not mistaken, the ranking is something like this: Avengers - Infinity War 10 Spiderman 2 9 Iron Man 3 9 Winter Soldier 9 Guardians of the Galaxy 2 9 Avengers Endgame 9 Avengers Assemble 8.5 Doctor Strange 2 - Multiverse of Madness 8.5 Iron Man 8 Guardians of the Galaxy 8 Thor 3 - Ragnarok 8 Spiderman No way home 8 Spiderman 1 7.5 Thor 7.5 Ant Man 7.5 Captain America Civil War 7.5 Ant Man and the Wasp 7.5 Captain Marvel 7 Avengers Age of Ultron 7 Spiderman Homecoming 7 Black Panther 7 Captain America 6.5 Thor 2 - Dark World 6.5 Spiderman Far from Home 6.5 Thor 4 - Love and Thunder 6 (revised down from a 7 on first watch) I should probably include the spiderverse movies in there, but I find those hard to rate and compare) I've seen Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk and Doctor Strange 1, but that was a long time ago, and some of my ratings on rewatching weren't what they were initially. My work here is almost done.
PS/ By Character franchise:
Avengers: 8.5, 2: 7, 3: 10, 4: 9 = 8.6
Guardians of the Galaxy: 8, 2: 9 = 8.5
Doctor Strange 1: (7?) , 2: 8.5 = 7.75
/Iron Man: 8, 2: (6?), 3: 9 = 7.66 \Captain America: 6.5, 2: 9, 3: 7.5 = 7.66
/Ant Man: 7.5, +Wasp: 7.5 = 7.5 \OG Spiderman 1: 7.5, 2: 9, 3: (6?) = 7.5 Nu Spiderman 1: 7, 2: 6.5, 3: 8 = 7.1
Thor: 7.5, 2: 6.5, 3: 8, 4: 6 = 7

The best what? I guess it's the best MCU film with Gemma Chan in for example. That's probably the only saving grace...
