This game is terribly paced, I hated the first ten hours or so - unexciting and identical to the first game. Being plonked into the canoe seemed like a total rehash.
Anyway, it's now got a bit more exciting. I hope it keeps it up as I've already done the thing I do when I start getting bored - check a walkthrough to see how long is left - and seems I'm only a third of the way through.

Given that ringing endorsement for the first ten hours, those still on the fence might like to know that there's a 3-hour trial of this available for PS+ subscribers.

The first few hours are pretty stacked with epic shit, but it does chill out a bit after that.

Aside from the obvious early boss I can't think of anything I'd consider epic in the first few hours.

Just finished the main story (48 hours), what a ride, that final section ensured it finished quite epically.
Loved it.

Aside from the obvious early boss I can't think of anything I'd consider epic in the first few hours. Perhaps not epic, but it's definitely an interesting mix to kick things off. The sled chase with Freya trying to murder you, Loki turning into a massive murderous bear, the first fight with Thor... Some great story content too with the introduction of Odin If I was trying the trial out, I'd definitely be sold anyway.

There's a lot to do in the dragon isn't there? Keep finding bits that are distracting me.

I'm such an Armour whore, soon as I find a new one I want to swap to it. Even though I might have wasted resources upgrading previous ones.

Finally completed everything...57 hours to 100% completion and the platinum. What a fucking marvellous game.

Would love them to make a 10 hour story focused action game.

Give them the mission impossible franchise to turn into games.

Having a blast with this, other than Souls muscle memory messing with my dodging and parrying.
Is there an option to stop Atreaus/Head from telling me the answer to every puzzle within 6 seconds of encountering it?

Just fully completed The Crater. That was some impressive optional area. A game in its own right, and possibly better than the main game itself.

Completed this today. Thought the entire ending sequence was a belter. Am enjoying the epilogue content too but I am 100 per cent on everything except the Beserkers but I think I am done.

So this free DLC was not what I was expecting. I honestly thought it was some small free addition but it feels and has the the quality of a paid addition. I'm amazed Sony would do that considering how they like to nickel and dime at times.

Yeah, been hearing good things about it. I dismissed it as a basic free endless dungeon/rougelite kind of thing, but sounds like that's not being fair to it.
Got a nice fat spoiler for it jn my news feed earlier...

If I had to compare it to something I'd say it compares quite strongly to Hades in its structure as there's quite a lot of story and goes far back as the PSP games. It took me a bit to get the muscle memory back but the combat is still very satisfying. Again it really doesn't come across as something you'd give away free.

There I was thinking it was just a roguelike mode and endless twatting of things, is there a story and a worthwhile reason to play it?

I believe they've called it an epilogue to Ragnarok. It's got permanent upgrades, challenges, temporary buffs, proper named boss fights, new enemies. It really is Hades.

Excellent, sounds good. After platinuming the game I didn't think I'd ever have a reason to go back.

I never platinumbed it, got stuck on a Berserker and gave up. Might be time to try again.

Got to the end credits of Valhalla yesterday and looking forward to going back and having another run tonight, as whilst the main story might be complete (and it was great) we have loads of things to tick off.
It is very Hades in it's structure - decide on upgrades each run, collect items which help you permanently buff up after each - but has its own take and it translates really well to the GoW world.
Getting offered bonuses for doing runs with set shield/rage combos mixes things up wonderfully. I'm more likely to favour the blades but last night did a run with the spear as the focus, and by the end I had it so well powered it was a joy to use.
Risk/rewards choices are really well setup and each play through is different enough for it to have longevity.
Really impressive for free DLC - would have been happy to pay for it.

Fancied a spin through NG+ and am absolutely stunned that there is free* DLC.
*FREE. NO MONEY. DLC. FREE!

Dlc has been great so far, no idea how far through I am but have a fair few successful runs. You end up with some quite diverse builds to use due to the way the upgrades are dished out. Only weapon im not really using is the blades.
