I reckon this whole franchise is a dirty word on here. But...just in case...
Here's a thread.
Digital pre-orders get to play the single player campaign from tomorrow (if you can download it in time). On Xbox, there is a placeholder download of about 350 mb. The proper download is open from around 6 pm UK time tonight I believe.
I found the beta to be good fun although a bit confusing with the plethora of create a class options, perks and gadgets.
Whatever you think of COD artistically or ethically, I have massive fond memories of the original MW games and thought the 2019 game was a fantastic re-boot. Very much looking forward to this, although if it follows the change between the original two I expect full Michael Bay

I still enjoy the shooty pew pew of multiplayer. No other online game quit nails the feeling of the guns like CoD does.

*grabs pitchfork*
I'm looking forward to blasting through the 2019 version when it inevitably drops on game pass (if the deal ever goes through!), As I have similar fond memories of the campaign. That's about my only involvement in the series in the past decade, though. I'd rather chew on rusty staples than go near a multiplayer lobby.

I'll definitely be picking it up, but going to opt for the Steam version (as opposed to Bnet) just incase performance is poor on my aging PC and I need to make use of the refund policy.
Looking forward to WZ2, and especially happy that you won't need to relaunch the game in different modes to play what you want. Might be time to uninstall WZ, mind you, as it is taking up an obscene amount of space on one of my SSDs lol

I quite fancied this but I don't think I'll ever pay £60 for a base game on PC.

Yep, it's an obscene price. £70 for base game on XBox, luckily it was my fortieth and I got spoiled with vouchers and cash.

It's the most like playing a really good military/thriller film the genre has ever reached IMO. I don't expect the new campaign to quite match it and to go full stupid instead. If you got the feels from the first Modern Warfare back in the day, it has that about it. There are some hard hitting scenes in it that are quite tough to play through, but I believe when war is represented in media it should be fairly unflinching, myself.

I'm actually wondering if they'll actually fix it by the time it comes to Gamepass because the forced integration of Warzone has totally fucked the game. Like it's honestly broken now, with so many bugs in the single player. Even the installation process for the digital version is fucked. It's quite astonishing because it really has fucked the possibility of being able to go back and play a classic game.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too soon. From an article over on TA:
In the footnotes of the lengthy document of published responses, Microsoft said, "The agreement between Activision Blizzard and Sony includes restrictions on the ability of Activision Blizzard to place Call of Duty titles on Game Pass for a number of years."

Ah, bummer.
Guess I'll just continue not playing it, then.

Agree with the Warzone integration. This is what drives the file size to take up half your storage too. I had to manually search for various 'packs' to download to be able to play the single player after previously installing everything. Warzone should be a separate app or at least an optional install. It's crap too, just another bandwagon jump on the FTP BR train.

Warzone was brilliant at launch, they fucked it when they integrated vanguard into it (and to a lesser extent cold war). Warzone 2 will be a fresh start which hopefully captures what made the first so good at launch.

Vanguard was the worst mp of the entire series and i struggled to even muster the interest to finish the campaign tbh.
I only bought that since the MW reboot was supposed to be good. Should have bought that instead!
If this is better i might be tempted to give it a go.
I enjoyed warzone for a longer time than i expected.

EDIT - XBox

Quite enjoyed the Open Beta. Although I've been out of the loop with multiplayer games for a solid year at this stage, so it was quite nice to just game and chat with mates for a change, regardless of the game really. But I enjoyed it none the less, especially the third person mode, which they've apparently changed for the full game so that FPS mode only activates on ADS with a 4X (or more) scope, which is much appreciated.
So yeah, might buy it to be sociable basically.

Pc preload is only 15gb. Will get quite a bit bigger when the rest of it comes.

Another 30-odd gb to download today, good job I checked as it does not seem to be doing it automatically on Xbox. From what I'm seeing so far I fully expect another huge mess of packs and downloads like last time around.
Campaign live from 6pm tonight. Stay frosty guys.

I quite fancied this but I don't think I'll ever pay £60 for a base game on PC. Had no idea I had £25 in my steam account already so maybe I will give this a go. Should have it installed ready to go for when I finish work tomorrow.

Early access was a bit FUBAR, particularly on Xbox by all accounts. Had to spam opening and closing the app for half an hour - each time being told I was too early. I reckon I'm two thirds through it. It's very good. There's quite a lot of variety and a couple of very long missions with multiple sections. There's one mission which basically rips off cult classic PSP game Pursuit Force , patently ridiculous but great fun. A couple of missions set around Mexico gave real Sicarrio vibes. Too many armoured enemies and some odd AI issues at times. I think a couple of the latter are bugs though. I wanna finish it now but have to go to work and am booked out tonight.

Never been a big fan of the CoDs, besides the original and the first Modern Warfare. Having said that, I would be pretty keen to play this when/if it comes to Game Pass. I'm not spending £60-70 on it, but free seems to be a reasonable price to dip in and out of multiplayer with it.

I fancy a shooter campaign. I don’t mind a CoD every couple of years so decided to pick this one up. Was convinced I’d go PS5 for the haptics and Uber fast loading… but I can get an Xbox key for £55 and I just can’t bring myself to pay another £15 just because Sony stopped selling keys to further lock down their walled garden. Guess I don’t need the haptics or faster loading as much as Sony hoped. Hope it’s not shite.

Oh wait. I’m thinking of Nintendo on the keys thing. Well. Either way no PS5 keys on MW2 2022 that I can see.

The campaign is excellent (as far as I have got) it's a lot of money for a 5 or 6 hour experience if you won't play the multiplayer though.
