I have allowed my marriage to fail. Bit lost now, stunned. Heartbroken etc. It's more on her, but I can't help but feel I could have done things differently. I'm so sorry dude. Care to share?

Walking our youngest to school this morning, we caught up with one of his friends and his Mum.
General chit chat (I hate small talk) and we mentioned how lucky we are to have so many nice pubs and restaurants in the area considering its quite a small town. I mentioned my favourite is the Italian on the high street and she said oh I went there on the last day of school as celebration thing.
I replied "Oh it's been open quite a while then" 🥴
She jokingly (I bloody hope so anyway) replied "What's that supposed to mean?!"
I blurted out that I don't actually know what point I was trying to make, sorry for any offence, etc.
Cue awkward 5 minute walk the rest of the way and she didn't come back the same way either. 😂

I managed to say something pretty thick as well the other day. I get nervous around people and blurt out right stupid shit sometimes.
Two weeks ago we all accompanied my son down to the central belt as he competed with his rowing club in the Regatta. A few adult members were competing as well, including a very well spoken man in his sixties (possibly older), who was there with his grown up daughter who was also competing. This guy knows a LOT about rowing and has very obviously being doing it a long time. Anyway, that was the first time I'd met him so introduced myself blah blah.
Cue the following weekend (the one just gone) and we were down at the club as my son was doing his training. This man was there in the cabin afterwards and a few of the other parents and him were chatting about the event. I blunder in and join the group and he looks at me expectantly so I think I should say something.
"Was that your eh, first time down at the Regatta?"
Long silence. I can feel the other pairs of eyes burning in to me.
"No I've been going there and competing for around 35 years"
Thing is. I knew that. It was fucking obvious. Everyone knew that. Yet I asked it anyway. Fucking moron. I just nodded and smiled and died inside whilst the conversation moved on without me.

Both of those things are just slightly awkward examples of small talk and really, the other people should have taken it as such. It's no skin off their nose, they're not being insulted. They should just make small talk responses. Neither of you are twats. At least, not for those moments.

Next time, offer him a weasel.

I'm doing fine. Still processing a lot, but my wife and I are being adults about all this and can work out amicable shit. I am mostly over the blindsided appraisal of our coupling, but ultimately agree. She is only moving a few blocks away and we have made it clear to one and other that we are always and forevermore going to be here for each other so long as we need. The only crinkle is that I believe there may be a third party from her online friend alliance (she is a marginally successful twitch streamer), of which there are many. Honestly, tho - I don't fucking care; I'm surrounded by IRL amazing people and opportunities at all times. Plus, I'm a Brit in America and these dribbling morons will suck a softball out of a dirty tube if it had a British accent and a marginally non-repugnant grimace. I'll be fine, I just hope I have the opportunity to raise children before I'm too old.

Ordered myself a takeaway.
The delivery defaulted to the last address I had one at.
My girlfriends' house.
Twenty minutes away.

Did some gardening yesterday and left the keys to our shed on top of a storage box and completely forgot about them.
Went to open the lid of said storage box without actually looking at it just now and heard the plink of keys sliding off it and down the tiny gap behind it...

For fucks' sake. Spent half a day downloading all the updated mods and a few new ones for the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, ended up replacing nearly 100gb of older files across the trilogy. One of the newer mods is a recoloured armour one, so I thought I'd go ahead and change the Phoenix armour set to have Alliance blue highlights as opposed to pink, as I've always head-canoned that Ashley's squad on Eden Prime were deliberately giving her bright white armour with pink bits on it as a pisstake because of her family history, while what little you see of them before they die, they are all in dark armour or camo-patterned ones. Nah, that's not making her a massive target at all, guys. It's only ever been a minor thing, as I usually stick in her in Colossus or Onyx pattern armour shortly after acquiring her anyway, I'm just doing this mostly to see if the mod actually works, and how well the author has done with the colour grading, seeing as how I was updating all the other mods at the same time anyway.
So due to the way Mass Effect modding works, you have to install all your content mods first, configuring their various options and dependencies as you go. This is relatively painless, and fairly quick. The second stage involves having the modding program perform a lengthy texture scan to generate a certain necessary file, and this can take up to a good ten minutes, depending on your system speed. The third stage is when you add all your updated textures to the mod loader, and there you can install them either one at a time, or in a batch. I tend to do them one at a time because certain ones can overwrite others, so it's best to install the ALOT gigantic texture update first, then install any other ones after that. It's this stage that can take an absolute fucking age. Like, go away and make yourself two cups of tea one after the other, come back and find that the 9.7gb of Improved Static Lighting still hasn't finished installing, and you've still got another twenty odd MEM files to go. And it has to be done in one go, because if you close the texture installer utility, it won't let you go back into it and install or change more, because doing so requires you to restore the game to vanilla from a backup that you've hopefully made, and go through the whole process again.
It can take up to 45 minutes with the ones I've selected, but it's worth it in the end, because look at the quality jump in Wrex. Finally, finally, it's all finished, and blissfully, it all seems to work. I load up a save at the beginning of the game, right before the Eden Prime distress call. Turns out the distress call itself is a baked in, cannot be altered video file that runs within the game, so Ashley's brief appearance in that bit can't be changed. Minor, minor annoyance, I can live with it. After landing on Eden Prime, and hurrying over to the bit where you meet up with her... Her armour has blue highlights, not pink. Just as advertised. At least now I can head-canon that she's some kind of Alliance specialist now, rather than someone just being hung out to dry by her supposed friends. And it's not unlike the colour scheme of Liaras' LOTSB/ME3 look.
...
Her helmet however, retains the original pink colour scheme. ... Because I forgot that the helmet recolour was a seperate file.
... To correct this monumental cock-up, I will have to go through the entire process again, from scratch. ... Thank fuck for the game files backup utility in the ME Mod Manager being an efficient and quick thing, or I would have been screaming at myself as Steam re-downloaded the entire trilogy.

Happened at the doctor's yesterday. Pretty minor, but still cringeworthy. After I spoke with the receptionist and went to go back out the door that I came in, I had a flashback to COVID times when they had a one way system in place and you couldn't use that door to exit.
Panicked and went back in and started making my way past the waiting area before I realised my mistake. Must've looked like a right wally walking up to the exit, turning around and doing a loop of the surgery before finally leaving. Receptionist was chuckling away to herself.

@blue_Mike
That reminds me a lot of how things went I worked as an animator.
Export a scene from Toonboom. This could take 10 minutes of it was a long and complex scene. And back then playback was inconsistent unless you exported the video file, you could scrub through in the programme but it was never a totally accurate depiction.
Notice some missed frames, or frames that hadn't been coloured. Or just where bits need tweaking.
But for some reason I could never spot all the errors / tweaks in one go.
So I'd end up exporting multiple times, probably wasted a lot of time.
And that's not too mention the errors caught later at the editing stage.
So much time spent watching render bars x.x

Don’t know whether to add this here or the positives thread, but this’ll do.
Thought my Xbox arcade stick wasn’t working anymore. Turns out the switch that selects between Xbox One and Xbox 360 modes was flipped towards 360, that’s why the Series X didn’t read it. 😅
Guess I won’t need to buy a new stick after all.
Edit, nevermind, it’s randomly triggering button presses I’m not touching. Man.
