For the last few generations I've always gone Xbox because that's where my mates play. However, I recently got a PS4 with Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us 1, 2, Crash Bandicoot and The Elder Scrolls online for £100 which I thought was a great deal. I've been hoovering up the unplayed Sony back catalogue and have:
Heavy Rain Beyond: Two Souls Wipeout Collection Tearaway Unfolded Until Dawn God of War Everybody's Golf Infamous Second Son Spider-man Bloodborne Shadow of the Colossus Uncharted Collection Uncharted 4 Last Guardian Last of Us Remastered Last of Us 2 Horizon Zero Dawn
Question is, where do I start and are there any notable absences?
The only things I have left on my list to buy are God of War 3 Remastered, Ghosts of Tsushima and Ratchet and Clank. I also have Nioh 1 and 2 but am not convinced they're any good. Anything else?

Heh, don't think you need to be adding any more to that list!
Always think it's great jumping into a console super late and having the full library to choose from at knock down prices.
As to where to start: probably The Last of Us Two although people would argue to start with the first for the sake of story...but two is the better game and a great showcase.
Uncharted is great fun. Again, fuck playing chronologically just go for the best one, UC4. Like TLOU these are first party experiences you don't get on Xbox.
I absolutely loved God of War too and it may even top my list. In terms of any notable ommissions, Death Stranding certainly is a unique experience.

That's a really solid list already (and would say of the lot, Ghosts of Tsushima is my fav so definitely do pick that up).
GT if you like driving games. Wreckfest is also a lot of fun and more arcade. Tetris Effect I thought was brilliant (if you don't already have it on Xbox) Stray is delightful but short
The top tier of PS+ gives you a lot of games, so worth checking that to see what you might get "for free" going that route.

Well that's a hell of a lot of gaming there but there's one notable absence and that's a PS4 launch title I still play most days and that's Resogun.

Was hoping to buy a physical copy but looks like it's digital only. The first thing I bought, of course, was Harmonix's Amplitude, which is good but seriously lacking because of its lack of licensed music, unfortunately.

I actually prefer the earlier uncharted games as I thought 4 was a slog and gave up somewhere in Scotland.
The first two are great to breaze through quickly too.

If you get through that lot inside 12 months you’ll be doing exceptionally well. I reckon there’s a few years of my gaming life listed there!
My advice would be to start with Uncharted. You have a brilliant series of games there and if you alternate each one with something different, you’ve always got something familiar and fun to look forward to.
You won’t really go too far wrong with any of them tbh.

It's a PS4 Pro right? Which would make you prolapsed.

I think the most I paid for £15. I'm having back surgery in a few weeks, too, so will have a little down time

Heavy Rain Beyond: Two Souls God of War Bloodborne Uncharted 4 Last of Us Remastered Last of Us 2
Got rid of the ones that aren't essential.

Oh, Death Stranding. Knew there was something missing.

Hmm was never drawn to DS. Seemed too divisive and the people that disliked it, really disliked it. If it comes up for less than a tenner then I'll bite but I have zero desire to play it.

I'll echo the pro-Death Stranding comments.
If you're playing the other Uncharted games on PS4, The Lost Legacy is also worthy of your time.

The first Uncharted really hasn't aged well, fuck you jet ski section, it does at least run better in the PS4 version.

Heavy Rain Beyond: Two SoulsGod of War Bloodborne Uncharted 4 Last of Us Remastered Last of Us 2 Got rid of the ones that aren't essential. If anything isn't essential it's these two turds. Detroit: Become Human is a much better choice but it's still only average to good. Stick with Until Dawn.

Yeah, I'd go Detroit over the other two Quantic Dream games.
If possible, I'd echo selling it all, getting a PS5 and a PS+ Extra subscription.

Only one mention for Bloodborne so far? If you've got any affinity for From/Souls, play that

If we're talking order of priority, I'd go with the following:
Bloodborne The Last of Us God of War Ghost of Tsushima Horizon Uncharted series (in order) God of War III The Last of Us Part II
I haven't played the rest.

I played God of War 3 a couple of years ago and didn't think it held up that well. Combat felt really weightless and Kratos was a lot more camp than I remembered him being

I'm not a big fan of the current trend of third person over the shoulder Souls but not Souls action games. I miss the more Devil May Cry style combo driven hack and slashes with big set pieces of the older entries. And Ancient Greece. He does yell a lot though.
