We all know konami are stupid but if they got a good studio to make a new silent hill game they would be raking the cash in but in the 360/ps3 era, they got mostly shite studios to make games and went: well these fucking gamers don't like silent hill games!
I see there is teaser trailer for new silent hill film, I thought it was fan made at first

Yeah it'd be nice to have the convenience of being able to go through it without hassle of setting up a ps2 and just have a nice updated version on tap via the ps5. As long as they haven't fucking touched the music. Edit, mikeck |

Fired up SH2 HD on the one x. I’ve played it before and it’s not actually awful but the trouble is that I also have it on ps2 and after 15 mins wondered why I wasn’t just playing that version instead. So I dug it out and here we go. Going from one straight to the other really shows a difference. Wonderful thick fog!

Yeah when I played it on 360 I didn’t hate it but it did feel like I was playing with low contrast and high brightness so everything was really vague and washed out looking. Plus the lack of fog meant you could see the limit of the draw distance so buildings would just stop and the pop-in for every object was visible during the outdoor sequels. On the lake you could even see laser straight edge of the water lapping up against the invisible wall at the screen edge like you were looking at the surface of a fishtank.

I'm that one-of-a-kind guy who liked SH3 better than SH2, and the HD port of that one wasn't too bad iirc. Probably because SH3 had less fog and more dark areas in the first place.
That said, I have playd SH2 on a PS2, and it is indeed much better that way.

iirc the port studio said some of the source code for SH2 was lost
Sh2 port had more problems than just lack of fog, the frame rate was dog shit and would have major issues when an achievement would pop

Homecoming was quite poor compared to the past games as they shoved in crappy QTE (button bashing) as it was the style at the time) and added the nurses as they were in the film and SH2. Still better the medium
4 could of been good but the 2nd half of the game was just the first part recycled with annoying escort quest with a woman that was injuired. Also those ghosts were awful

I liked the ghosts (and the game) a lot. They're really creepy
The escort quest part of the game is annoying, mainly because it affects the ending if she takes damage. I read recently that there's something you can do just before the end that will negate all that and net you the best ending regardless, so I might give it another playthrough

Weren’t there some PSP titles or something bridging the gap between the PS2/3 Silent Hills and PT?
Anyway, realising a decade has gone by since I shot a stream of red hot faeces down my trouser leg at the “look behind you” bit makes me feel old.
