He's a strange one. Was absolutely amazing for a time and kept a clean sheet game after game and was getting in the England squad. He then had one of those crises of confidence that only goalies tend to get where virtually every shot at him ended up in the net. The crowd but more importantly the defence lost all confidence in him and for a long time he couldn't even get on the bench as backup.
By all accounts, he had a good loan up at Celtic, got some confidence back and this season has been a real turnaround. We needed him off the wage bill as he was on a fortune so his contract was never going to be renewed but I'm pretty sure he'll make a good backup.

We wouldn't have got top 4 with Conte anyway. Probably would have been better than Rangnick though I'd have thought. Fuck, Carrick probably would have been better than Rangnick.

Forster dropped off after he gave himself that double injury kicking the ball out didn't he Saint? He was pretty good up until then.

The second the word 'interim' was mentioned was precisely the second that bunch of lazy fucks thought they were off the hook for the rest of the season. Wouldn't be worth judging anyone given that particular hiding to nothing.

Might well turn out to be a blessing in disguise if Haaland settles in but City would have got much more out of that £100 million if they put it towards the Harry Kane fund.
Given the chances they didn’t bury in the CL semi final, it could have cost them a CL.

I would honestly rather have Boris Johnson's hairdo than the abomination Grealish carries round on his head. I always thought it was just pinned back for games and he actually does something with it out and about, but that's literally just the style as is. Cunt looks like a half peeled cheese string.

Quite funny on the grealish clip you can see the other players thinking “total bellend”.

It’s a pretty outlandish prediction. I’m sure you’ll get incredible odds if you’re brave enough to bet on it.

Still think it will be more of a relief for everyone that they got him rather than Kane.

He missed 17 games last season and players moving to new leagues can struggle to adapt to different speeds etc. Probably wishful thinking though.

Very few hit the ground running so I'll go for 10-15 goals next season and 25+ the season after.

I'm going Pep to turn him into a defensive midfielder.

Six goals, four assists and one more winner's medal than Harold Kane.

Six goals, four assists and one more winner's medal than Harold Kane. Morning, Jack. You're up early! Are you off to the hairdressers?

Haaland, plus their backup striker scored 6 last night for River Plate, and the 5 subs rule is coming in... The race for 2nd could be interesting!

Oh I don’t think Newcastle will be pushing City and Liverpool down into a race for second as soon as next season

Alvarez really does look the business, great touch, fast, strong, capable of both powerful and delicate finishes... and he only cost £25m. Pairing him and Haaland could be interesting, although I'm not entirely convinced Pep will ever play two up front at the same time. Still, scary. Meanwhile, there's rumours that Jurien Timber from Ajax to United is a pretty much done deal this morning and that there's a bid accepted for Pau Torres and supposedly, he's on his way. So maybe old Harry might not be as much of a starter as has been suggested.

Timber began his career at right back though so he may be getting put back out there. He is quite small for a centre back and has pretty bad heading ability which is a concern for the premier league. Excellent with a ball at his feet though which makes me think he may move out wide (or be one of 3 cb's).

Nice to see stuff moving quickly before panicking at the end of the window.
Will hopefully see some movement about signing some midfielders.

I wonder if any PL clubs will want Tammy and Smalling after last night

Smalling was never a bad defender, but for how everyone wants to play from the back he's not suited anymore.
You can see the cogs turning in his head when the balls at his feet.
Tammy is a slightly better Welbeck for me, I don't see anything special in him at all.

Still, I'd be pleased with he and Torres coming into our defence, I think?

I always thought smalling was pretty good and was sad to see him leave when loads of others should have left before.

I wonder if any PL clubs will want Tammy and Smalling after last night I hear there's a noveau riche northern club with money to burn... they might want to trade the sunshine and lifestyle of Rome for the shining glory of Newcastle?

Man of the Match in a European final would be an upgrade on some of what we have
