Doherty has been pretty disappointing so far. He’ll probably get game time in the ECL or league cup, but yeah, probably 3rd choice after Tanganga and the new guy.

He’s not getting played at all really. I think very likely either him or Aurier will go tomorrow as Tanganga has been first choice RB so far and we definitely don’t need four.

I just assumed it would be Aurier as he said he wanted to leave, but I dunno if there are any takers.

Feeling very much like a wheels falling off situation. What is going on at that club? Its getting Sunderland-esque now

The AMN thing is so fucked up. No-one comes out looking good imo.

Dan James off to Leeds on a permanent deal for €28m. Should be a good deal for all parties involved. Would love if we can shift Jesse too and bring in a CDM but hard to see it happening. Neves or Saul would be incredible.

Mostly Arteta comes off looking like someone who can't man manage, corroborating what's been clear for almost a year now. The number of players he's had issues with is remarkable, and that's with the club no doubt trying to keep things under wraps. And failing at that quite spectacularly. Embarrassing doesn't cut it here.
Just how bad does your relationship have to be to put cry emojis on social media and tag your employer...

With Ronaldo on £500k a week, it's probably safe to say our business is done and any sales will just mitigate that expenditure.

Good business for us getting that much, hopefully Lingard next rather than stinking up the place.
A midfielder would make a dream window absolutely perfect.

I see the James sale as an indication we feel West ham won't come back in for Jesse. My feeling is the club would have preferred to sell Jesse but absolutely needed to sell someone. No more incomings I wouldn't think.

Delighted with that, Dan James seems a lovely lad and has a great attitude but he just isn't good enough. Hope things work out for him at Leeds.

He’s only 28 and was solid for them last season, if he’s half as good then he’d still be a decent asset for them. You’d also think they’d like to add some more goals into the team considering Antonio’s injury record.

Iwobi was probably the best sale they've made since Barca took Song and Vermalaen.

I guess the difference is, James is leaving a club that finished 2nd and not 8th, regardless of what you think about individual quality.
Anyway, Arsenal Twitter again awash with rumours that a big story is about to break about someone in the exec team being sacked. Given the news that Willian has gone, Edu seems to make most sense...

I wonder whether Sheffield United’s £23.5m Brewster signing has acted as a bit of a turning point for newly promoted/mid table teams looking to take a punt on the youths prospects of “the big six”. In years gone by I feel like we could have pretty easily got £40/50m combined for AMN, Nelson and Nketiah. This year it seems like there’s very little interest and the only offers have been in the low millions or loans with options to buy.

Ronaldo added £300m (maybe dollars) to the value of the club immediately. I think United get 7% as a value of shirt sales as well, so I think the structure of the deal to bring Ronaldo to United has already paid for itself. If we can offload James and Lingaard, and bring in (my preferred signing) Ruben Neves then I think United have a squad that can challenge for the league. Although we will probably use the money to sign Trippier as competition for Wan-Bissaka despite needing a specialised CDM for years.
Ndidi may be useful as an alternative as well, though likely to cost more.

The share price increase pays for nothing only the shirt sales will have a cash impact.

You’ll get about £2m from the shirt sales. That’s a month of his wages covered.

I guess we are not expecting many deals today? I think most of the big ones are done (ronaldo etc). I guess mbappe will be the talk most of today.

Ronaldo might not move the dial enormously in terms of cash value from shirt sales etc but he’s going to give them an even stronger position to score the elite level noodle partnership sponsor fees

I think part of the reason the Glazers are ok with spunking the money on Ronaldo is because of those green and gold protests. A quick glance at the article and Liew fails to mention anything the Glazers have promised to change as a result of the protests. Yes they're only words but there are fan groups like MUST that are actively pushing (they always have been). Also, never been a fan of Liew.
