For much of the previous decade we were also putting out some of our worst teams on record. Think this is the point really. When we talk about best and worst teams, we're invariably using league form and points as the metric. League positions and points totals determine if you are any good, Cups are for great days out and treasured memories. Wenger worked absolute miracles with what he had back then. How on earth he managed third in 2011-2012. Of course Robin banged in the goals, but we had some absolute stinker starting line ups..

For a player held together with string and sellotape Vermaelen had a hell of a career. Didn’t he wind up at Barca after his legs were too busted to play in England?

Yeah that was a weird era when Barca came for our players regardless of whether they were better than what they already had.

How Alex Song managed to sign for Barca... A bit like Thomas Gravesen signing for Real Madrid. Bizzare.

Maddison overlooked for the England squad again. Sucks for him but as a selfish Spurs fan this is welcome news, keep him fresh.

Isak out of the Swedish squad. If him and Wilson keep up this level of part time performance we’ll be re-signing Carroll from Bordeaux.

Saka should be dropped for Palmer.

Will take a while to understand the implications but I can't say I'm wholly surprised. Always felt like withholding registration until a transfer fee was paid was only in place because it suited everyone. I don't think it happens in any other sector. Big business has golden handcuffs etc I guess but you can still move from company to company.

Pleased for Diarra. Sounds like he was absolutely screwed over by Lokomotiv and FIFA. Ridiculous that it has taken nine years to resolve.
It sounds like at the very least FIFA will have to remove the requirement for the international transfer certificate from the previous league.

Palace will be after a new manager again soon at this rate.
Not something I predicted.

This covid era clip of Tim Cahill Vs Roy Keane thing popped up on my feed today. The fact that it's Keane that gets all the work really speaks to the the state of Sky TV punditry. www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/s/nMCAHjJbCN

They've had chances to get something out of the match and flubbed them all.

Yeah I don't know if Keane is there for his astute analysis, though you'd think being a manager that should be good. I guess he wasn't that good a manager though lol. With his blasé attitude and comedic timing he is great TV though, imo. Baby

Frustrating. At one point stats said Southampton had had 33% possession but pretty sure they didn't get a touch all half.

Ball didn't quite fall for us in that first half. Should be fine but got to watch out for the sucker punch on the break if we get too impatient.

VAR should rule that out to be fair. The challenge on Sterling wasn't playing the ball.

Perfect finish to be far. Annoyingly clinical.
