All reports said Newcastle had to ditch some players to help with PSR before bringing anyone in and they’ve mostly done that by binning off fringe players. But they’ve forgotten to sign anyone new.
Given this is largely the same squad who qualified for the Champions League two season ago then Howe and the board must have faith in the players. But last season they discovering that having players made of glass in every position can backfire massively.

Looks like our negotiating tactics worked. CFC taking Sancho, with an obligation to buy, makes absolutely no sense at all. I find their entire approach absolutely baffling. Mates of mine who support Chelsea think I'm having a dig - I'm not. Genuinely can't work it all out.

Everton submitting a last minute deal sheet for Broja seems incredibly desperate. There's a decent player in there, but he's buried in red flags. Really does seem panicky given he failed the Ipswich medical and this is with an obligation to buy if reports correct. Still, he was great a few years ago and still young so maybe it'll work. No loan fee and an option to buy. Out injured until mid October, but we won't pay any of his wages until he's fit, so relatively low risk.

Ward-Prowse to Forest is a weird one. I thought he was doing alright at West Ham. Didn't want to drop big money on him but a loan suits us very nicely thank you. PS corrected your spelling of Forest. Almost as bad as Notts Forest FFS 🤣

Notts County sounds better.

Nice, if there's no obligation there at all and you don't pay him till fit it sounds like you guys also took Chelsea to the cleaners. Love to see it.

All this activity and Chelsea haven't improved their centres of defence and attack.

A midfield of Andre, Lemima and Gomes is pretty tasty for Wolves. I can't believe no other club was in for Andre.

Are there any worthwhile attempts at analysing the Chelsea strategy anywhere?
Its such a scattergun approach it doesn’t even feel like they’re hoarding players for future sale like Abramovich did with all the loanees they used to have across Europe. If anything they’re actively devaluing some of their squad by how they’re treating them and how desperate to offload other clubs know they are.

They at least made a profit on Deivid Washington by selling him to their sister club.

As I said before, I've got a lot of time for Sterling and would be keen on a 1 year loan with us paying a wage contribution commensurate with an experienced squad rotation role within our wage structure (which is probably £100-150k/wk). Could work out great for all parties but I can't see Chelsea accepting that unless they are out of other options. Still can't believe this is how it actually panned out. Chelsea had no other options so we got him on a 1 year loan with no fee, no obligation, and our only contribution is £100-150k a week (seen both reported). Chelsea are paying more of his weekly salary than we are. It's beautiful. Yeah, wasn't particularly keen on Sterling but this seems like a cracking deal. Almost wonder how we managed to do it, but perhaps with Chelsea it's not all that surprising. Also a bit unsual to see someone play for arguably the four best PL teams of the last decade. I know Anelka also played for the same four teams but Man City were not quite the same back then.

Arsenal fans forgetting sterling spends more Time running himself and the ball out of play than actually passing to others.

It’s a sensible signing to be fair. Bit like us with Werner. Experienced player providing some squad depth.

As always it feels like we needed 1 more signing but the youngsters are looking good so far.

I'm glad the club put out this video. Will be weird not seeing his name on the team sheet.
