My experience of meeting up with nerds from a nerd internet forum irl is that they look exactly like what you'd expect nerds from an nerd internet forum to look like and are pretty easy to pick out.

So just genuinely, not jokes, would you guys do a reveal your face thread beforehand so everyone knows who's who? Otherwise, everyone can say "YEAH I'M IN, I'M DOWN," then quietly tiptoe away when the time comes. I went to a meet with people from the SFX magazines forum. We arranged to meet in Forbidden Planet, London. It was only when I got there I realised that I didn’t know what anyone looked like. I wasn’t prepared to walk up to people and ask are you THX-1138, Ghandialf or whatever nonsense we went by. So I logged into the forums and described what I was wearing, and where, exactly, I was. The drinks that I had were lovely, though I woke up woozy, good times, chatting shit. What are you wearing right now? |
