Feast your eyes on my delicious congee. Homemade stock, organic koshikari rice from Hyogo, cod, ginger, garlic and fried shallots. Delicious. Please, sir, may I have some more please (in cockney accent)

You eat with your eyes and all that. "Congee or conjee is a type of rice porridge or gruel eaten in Asian countries. It can be eaten plain, where it is typically served with side dishes, or it can be served with ingredients such as meat, fish, seasonings and flavourings, it is typically served as a meal on its own, especially for people who are ill." A gruel for the unwell. What a treat! Yeah, I've been having it as I was unwell but it's delicious. Rice=good porridge=good meat, fish, seasonings = good. It's all good!

Dunno, but if that's how what you cook looks, I can see why you eat out a lot.

I don't think the quality of the ingredients nor the taste is being disputed. It's the image.

Couldn't you have found one thing of colour to go in it ecosse? That's probably all it needed.
Besides you don't *have* to take a photo of everything.

You're food arrogance is quite funny, I've eaten congee, I've also eaten at l'enclume multiple times, Northcote, Mana, Man behind the curtain, The French etc etc. but you presume because we post some stuff about unhealthy quick tasty meals that we are all ignorant and don't share your distinguished palate. Then post a picture of 1930's prison food.

And, in all seriousness, I cannot endorse mini-sausage roll croutons enough.

I haven't had a banger in the mouth for years. Hmmmm, I'll have to put that down on the list for dinners this week.

When the other half made sausage rolls in the past she always made them bite-sized like that. I approve.

I like good food and fine dining as much as the next middle class person with a bit of disposable income but, at the end of the day, sometimes all you want is to eat an entire tub of betty crockers chocolate icing.

I grew up with my gran living with us who was an ex-baker and baked the most amazing cakes. As a result, for me almost anything with nice icing on top is a winner. GF just rolls her eyes.

Could you produce a series of photos of it to match cubby's gallery-worthy selection though? Its a once in a while thing. The sausage rolls are generally leftovers because the wifes favourite snack is them covered in franks buffalo sauce. I dunno why but she substitutes them for chicken wings. We are living at the CUTTING EDGE of fusion food.

I wouldn't mind finding some msg too just to see if it makes much of a difference with some Chinese recipes I do and apparently it is the missing ingredient that elevates home made KFC style chicken. I've taken to adding it to curries and stir-fries and it definitely gets a bit closer to that 'takeaway taste'. Plus it's not actually as bad for you as everyone seemed to think previously (funnily enough that idea seems to have been founded on anti Chinese sentiment in America decades ago).
