Snack night. So sausage rolls, and potted shrimp with toast.
Because, it's CHRISTMAS EVE 🎅

Bbq'ing some chicken to do our own Nandos pittas. I was planning on doing tomorrow's Turkey on the BBQ but the weather tomorrow is horrendous so had to settle doing one tonight.

I normally rub my chicken with garlic butter, rosemary and thyme before I roast. This year I'm thinking about doing that overnight, is that going to fuck it up? I can't see how - sounds good to me. I do this every year so I can just take it out of the fridge and then shove it in the oven. Saves time, never had any issues. Dinner tonight was pasta pesto with bacon and cheesy garlic bread. Simple and quick because we've got better things to do - ie as much prep as we can for tomorrow

Veggies prepped for Tom, gonna microwave the sprouts, fuck boiling or poncing about with them, moist and full of flavour and done in a twink with practically no washing up. Fuck you traditionalists.

Being smug about cooking something that tastes like someone farted cabbage water into your mouth.
You need bacon, garlic and butter cooking with them for it to be edible.

My Mum used to put vegemite on the sprouts because I hated them thinking it would make me eat them. It didn't work, just ruined my vegemite really.

Sprouts are one of those weird ones, I'm quite happy tucking into a portion but unadulterated, adding alsorts to make something edible seems a bit unnecessary, may as well not bother.

I agree on not bothering but my wife feels its not Christmas without them. So I have to tart them up a bit.

Viennetta. I was going to have it for breakfast, but I succumbed to temptation.

Haha, I keep meaning to just buy a Vienetta and eat it all to myself on a regular weekday.
Grew up thinking they were some kind of posh treat for special occasions.

Thanks folks, trying to not let it get to me too much as it's hardly the end of the world, but that basically was my Christmas.
Didn't bother getting much food in beyond nibbles so I can't make up for it at home. Christmas dinner will be a ham sandwich, crisps, dips, a bit of cheese and not much else... yay.
Hope all yours are better.

Sorry to hear about the breakfast woes. Due to the events of the week here we sacked off bothering to plan and cook anything and did a thoroughly non-traditional smorgasbord of frozen stuff from Trader Joe’s that we had lying around. Buffalo Chicken Poppers, Green Bean Casserole bites and Turkey and Stuffing Stir Fry. Then later tonight a Cuban style pizza. We’ll do a more traditional one next year when we’re hopefully more in the mood.
