I always thought I was a run-of-the-mill "dog person", but it turns out I'm actually an "extremely weird" feline-loathing asshole At least now you know

Just completed. Very excellent. Wish it was longer, and the ending was a bit underwhelming but it was top quality throughout, checkpoints aside.

I honestly find it extemely weird when people claim to „not like“ a particular type of animal, a mammal no less. If you‘ve been bitten by dogs, fair enough, but that‘s the only explanation that makes halfway sense. „I don‘t like dolphins!“ yeah, right.
I find having a strong reaction to a throwaway comment in a much longer post to be a trifle peculiar, but whatever - you do you, I guess!
With how many dolphins* have you personally interacted over the years? Enough to form an opinion?
By contrast, once you've reached a certain age (and most of us are probably there already!), chances are you've encountered enough cats and dogs to be able to say what you do and don't like with some degree of certainty.
* Or giraffes, or otters, for that matter Strong reaction? Was just a throwaway remark about weirdos, but whatever.

I may have overreacted somewhat in my sleep-deprived, uncaffeinated state - if so, I apologise.
Although you were ostensibly calling me a weirdo, which... I mean, you're not wrong! I just didn't think my (mild) dislike of cats was one of my more peculiar traits, is all.

I grew up with three cats and despite having very different personalities, they were all affectionate in their own way. I've also had cats follow me in the street like little weirdos. I'm sure there's plenty of cats that aren't like that but I wouldn't say stand offish is just how cats are. There's just more variety. Comparatively, dogs are typically loyal and that's what a lot of people want from a pet
Basically this - people like and want different things. (Okay, it's not the most original sentiment or anything, but it's still true!)
As an olive branch to my fellow Font Geeks who are particularly pro-feline, this is the cat I liked:
Her name was Nelson, and she was an absolute sweetheart.

Also finished this now and enjoyed it, nice atmosphere and length doesn't outstay it's welcome. I did somehow miss 3 memories on the last hub area though despite thinking I had explored pretty well (and 1 from a runny level which was more understandably missed). Not sure about going for the platinum any time soon with my backlog though but may come back to it at some point.

No need to apologies, but thanks. I apologize for calling you a weirdo, oh weird one. My first comment was more of a general comment/question.

Are you suggesting that user sarfrin is in fact a fish.
More likely to be an Octopus going by his pic - do Otters eat octopuses?

Finished this, this evening. Enjoyed it. One of those rare games where it has such a unique and strong identity which it manages to carry all the way through the game. I did prefer the first half and found it quite touching in places. Sure there be those who will be pedantic and say it’s simple but it’s so well thought out, designed and written that it elevates into something pretty damn good. Hope Sony have more sort of partnerships/curation lined up.

Just started this. Good god the animations are sublime. Playing on my Deck and really highlights how good the screen is - the blacks and neons are gorgeous. I think I'm in love with the game already.
I've been walking round pressing B to meow in front of my actual cats. They are definitely a bit baffled.

I let my niece play this, she gave up after completing the first chase sequence. I get that they need some action sequences, but I also hate these flood type enemies. It’s like escort missions, everyone hates them, but they keep putting them in games.

I love all animals and one day I really hope I can have a dog, but right now cats are the absolute perfect pet for my lifestyle. The return on investment in terms of work put in versus affection I get back is huge. I literally just put out food once a day and that’s it. She cleans herself. Goes outside for toilet and buries it neatly. Socialises on her terms etc. She needs next to nothing from me but is always there for a cuddle when I get home. She’s awesome.

Comparatively, dogs are typically loyal and that's what a lot of people want from a pet They are just playing long game to laugh at you when you have to pick up their shit. Other people's dogs are mostly fine (and ones that aren't are normally more because the owner is a nob), but definitely more a cat person. Yeah, they have boundaries and won't be shy about telling you when you cross them, but who doesn't? Much easier to look after and affectionate in their own way. Crazy cat lady might be a stereotype, but crazy dog person seems more prevalent. The Internet lies and find I rarely encounter cat people compared to how often I encounter dog people. Perhaps that is just because dog people do like telling you repeatedly about their dog. Oh yeah, Stray. It's good. Just reached midtown, so will probably finish it soon.

I don’t like when dogs are noisy and jump up at/on me and that. This may be related to being uncomfortable around the noisy pub dog that would bark and snap at us on the walk to school when I was in primary school and a village full of barely cared for staffies.
I’ve only managed about 90 minutes of Stray so far but it is very good so far.
I would play a dog game if it was as good as Stray.

A lot of dogs have that sad eyebrows look or sit outside shops whining waiting for their owner to return. They're just too dependant for me
I saw a cat sitting in the doorway of a supermarket just cleaning itself while people walked around it. It had just decided that's where it was going to do that and people would have to deal with it

" It had just decided that's where it was going to do that and people would have to deal with it"
Yeah.
The one big difference between cats and dogs, which just explains a lot of things I find, is that cats have barely been domesticated. Even your bog standard so-called "domestic" cat doesn't differ much from wild cats to this very day.
Cats came many, many thousands of years later than dogs, on their own terms, when man had settled, and stored grain, which attracted mice. Humans never "taught" cats anything, it was more of a natural symbiosis.
Mankind has kept dogs, on the other hand, since the hunter-gatherer days, and "used"/taught/bred them for their purpsoes.
