I’m very out of date with regs but this was definitely illegal in the US 20 years ago, and for good reason. As an example, imagine you are a debt-free football team. I could say I’m going to buy you, and then raise financing by mortgaging your stadium etc to buy it. I have no money of my own, anyone could walk in off the street and do it an then own the newly debt-ridden team. This is what the Glazers did to Man U. |

To bring up a subject from a few pages back; being a verified member on Twitter doesn’t only bring the alleged “cachet” of the blue check; it also provides the user to an expanded array of features to manage stuff like who can message you and apparently enhanced security checks. So this functionality would also be paywalled in Lord Elon’s new scheme.
