And also Monica shagged a 17 year old in high school in an early series but nobody complains about that. He only told her after the deed, didn't he? And she was suitably horrified IIRC. "My lie didn't make one of us a felon in 48 states!" I believe was the line.

I'm going to shock a few people here but Friends wasn't actually real. Those people are just actors.

The bartering is reminiscent of a moroccan market, I bet King can get it down to $6 and a free chicken.

This 20 dollar thing is because Musk knows if he goes all "Fwee Speech" and let's the racists post what they want the advertisers will run a mile. It's heartening that everyone is telling him to fuck off.

Its kind of looking like if they do charge for verification, anyone complying will become a Tick Wanker.

I don't really know what kind of functionality someone would be willing to pay $20 a month for.
Maybe if he said "hey you know what, Twitter is now subscription-only, pay up bitches", you could get some of the terminally addicted on board. But I don't think that's a lot of people, I think most people are happy enough being served ads over actually paying money for a thing.

It's heartening that everyone is telling him to fuck off. Do you really think so? Several companies show solidarity with ideologies and the twats refuse to support their products or services. We are at a tipping point where, well people still buy products fro China, myself included. I admire those that cannot afford it but take a stance, and begrudgingly support the rich that know right from wrong.

Especially on the internet.
Though, ironically, I actually think that it could be a positive step for people to be charged a SMALL fee to access a service online.
The internet has just become a byword for everything being free. Yes, you have the likes of Netflix and Spotify but they give the actual creators a pittance, comparatively.
So, while I want to see Musk crash and burn, I am interested to see what happens with this as a development and hopefully leads to people valuing things more.

He is relying on people with blue ticks considering it an important part of their business and people writing it off as them having, effectively, a business account now. I imagine it will also eventually come with the ability to do stuff like scheduling spam tweets for your followers and whatnot and become purely about promotion.
I would think the problem with that is the blue ticks people actually follow, like Stephen King, just tweet whats on their mind and the blue ticks like a Natwest bank or Thames Water nobody gives a fuck about unless they are locked out of their account.
I can see companies paying for it but I cant see why popular 'personalities' would.

It's bizarre that his first instinct is to tax the creators, not the consumers. That'll probably come soon, though.

By all accounts, its not entirely surprising that he never once considered other peoples labour as a success factor

Muskrat is definitely going to have a hard time justifying anybody paying money for Twitter. He'll just end up killing it and a different social media will take over. Hasn't this happened a lot of times after somebody buys over social media platforms and tries to change them?

Keep geefe away from the porn I legit paid for porn a few times. Then the bank blocked my card and I had a very awkward phone call at a petrol station.

Hasn't this happened a lot of times after somebody buys over social media platforms and tries to change them? I think, traditionally, companies buy social media platforms at their absolute peak value, then they start a slow death spiral when the VCs start gutting the service, then something better comes along and users start to migrate before finally committing suicide with a gigantic revamp that nobody likes.

MySpace was so fucking wholesome, as well. Here's my page, there's many like it but this one is mine, because it plays idioteque when you open it.

Paid for porn (not for research, Jambo, I was wanking) and then went to get petrol later. This was about 6-7pm. Card had a block. Had to call the bank from inside the petrol station booth and be like "can you unblock my card please". Had to sheepishly verify a transaction. Must have been about 19. This was before all HD and stuff on pornhub.

Given that I don't really remember what it was, I'll go with no :-( Genuinely, has nobody here ever bought porn? Most of you are older than me and probably had copies of Fiesta knocking about.
