It's all just pattern matching bollocks. This is all humans do though. This thing just does it faster. Agreed - but still not sentient. A pocket calculator can multiply two numbers faster than me but I don't anthropomorphise it as my portable Rain Man. (Speaking of calculators, 5318008 is also funnier than anything ChatGPT has "created".)

I hope it has a light in it like old caps lock, that would be cool.

They might as well reuse the caps lock key, as it's this huge key in a convenient place that no-one ever uses.

That’s what Google did with Chromebooks right?
Ultimately it won’t affect me since I build my own keyboards anyway, but it’s another little push towards me getting off of Windows on my personal machines.

To be honest I like copilot, played around with it at work. Some features are genuinely useful, but I particularly like that it can summarise teams meetings with as good degree of accuracy. Means when I zone out I don't miss anything....

For example the ä/à/{ key. If you press it unmodified, you get an ä. If you press it with shift, you get an à. If you press it with caps lock on, you get an Ä. and if you press it with caps lock on and shift, you get an À. Finally, you can press it with Alt Gr and you get a {.
Same thing for the ü/è/[ key.

Why do we need keyboards anyway? We should be using voice control for everything by now.
Although the Teams auto-transcription of the Christmas message our management left for us was comedy gold.

I have a major adverse reaction to using voice commands. Absolutely hate it. You'd think I, a fan of Star Trek, would be into telling computers to do stuff but I loathe any concept of voice assistants.

I'd still rather look up the name and press "call"

I can see how it might be useful in some other languages. Though some other language keyboards already have additional keys for that kind of thing. Japanese keyboards have a tiny spacebar because they already have 2-3 additional option keys on each side of it. If microsoft add another one their spacebars are going to be the size of a regular letter key.
On my work PC I've remapped capslock as a ctrl-alt-shift hyperkey to use for keyboard shortcuts.
In 30 odd years of using PCs I'm not sure i've ever used it for it's intended purpose.
I just tried to use it on my home PC and I've discovered it doesn't even work!!! I wonder how long it's been like that??

Looking at this screenshot, I don't understand why the originally posed question was insufficient. Everything else is waffle.

So it creates versions that read like some spam bot that was checked for spelling and grammar? Awesome.

Keep capslock on all the time and use shift to type in lower case.

Soon, the AI will generate the website content to expand out from a simple prompt. Then another AI will read it and summarize it down to a short summary. Then that AI will generate a verbose question based on its summary. Then another AI will read that verbose question and respond in a verbose manner. Then your AI will summarize that verbose answer down into a simple summary.
All without any user interaction at all.

Until full Toblerone integration is achieved I'm not interested.

I dunno if I would trust AI with Toblerone insertion, it might have a hallucination and attempt to insert it into the wrong orifice.
