How did they manage to make the map look worse... I feel like they've intentionally vomited icons all over in a "careful what you ask for now shut up" way.

he comes across as thin skinned and refuses to listen to any constructive feedback about the game. the quests, characters and stories in SF are worse than past games

He's got a point to be fair. I did go into the game expecting a variety of enemies, characters, companions and a world with a semblance of personality, factions and decisions that might have an impact on the gameplay and story, various ways to build a character and play the game and random areas worth exploring.
Sorry Todd, I guess it really was my fault. The gaming community really doesn't deserve him.

It was the same old shite with the same old limitations, just reheated and set in (empty) space this time. The polar opposite of his take. What a twat.

60fps and ship interior decoration. Not a bad start.

Personally I don't understand how Bethesda has gotten away with releasing such a turd with Starfield. I'm amazed there isn't more rage about it. Or, it's an merely an indicator of how far Bethesda have fallen that the response to Starfield has almost been a shrug.
CD Projekt got absolutely lynched when they released Cyberpunk and whilst it was buggy as hell and there were things lacking, it massively pushed forward graphics, was an amazing world to wander around from the get-go and had some top tier characterisation and decent acting. It did a lot right.
By comparison, Todd has gotten away with murder in broad daylight.

Bethesda were coming off of innumerable Skyrim re-releases and an Elder Scrolls mobile game and Fallout 76, both of which were received rather coldly overall. CDPR were coming off of The fucking Witcher 3. Bit of a difference in precedents here

Star field IS a good game. But it deserves to be a great one… I hope they can get there but without a large modification of their game engine I’m just not sure…

Even though I found Starfield to be massively underwhelming I still put 50 hours in to it, and probably will put more hours in to it after a few more updates.
Why would Bethesda think there's much of a problem when it still fosters that kind of engagement?

Maybe because on Steam right now there's 3000 people playing Starfield and 12000 playing Skyrim?

Starfield's player count will shoot up once they can use all the mods that have helped keep Skyrim go so long.

Its actually quite a good looking game with lots of detail in meshes and textures so I'm not actually arsed about RT but ...
It needs the option to remove entry/exit animations for cockpits, doors, lifts, workstations etc. they are a fucking chore. It needed land vehicles. It needs unique loot tied to locations rather than RNG at loadtime based on difficulty. It needed more of the zero-g combat as found on that casino station. It needs a reason to explore the planets present even if it's clues and tidbits about hidden items/locations. The crafting and transport is so convoluted such that you eventually just think fuck it. I'm not expecting satisfactory levels of automation, just simplify it. A lot or not cos again, who gives...
I am hoping that lots of the planets in this are placeholder so they can seamlessly add content rather than having their add-ons go 'off-map'.

Can they find someone who can make NPC's that don't look fucking weird? The texture work is actually really good but the NPC's faces don't fit into the world, they didn't even program them to climb and walk down stairs properly so they do a really weird walking animation. Some of it just comes as properly amateurish. Again AAA studio pretending they're an Indie developer.

One thing that they really need to do it set it to remove the Crimson Fleet tag from enemies when doing their mission. I stumbled upon it early and it made almost every outpost I went to combatless, just walking straight in and taking what I needed while listening to "Glad you're in the fleet..." repeated by every passing NPC. I can't imagine it'd be too hard to change them from "Crimson Fleet" to "Pirate" for the duration.

I have recently got back into Starfield and am enjoying it. Sure it had flaws but it can be fun. What’s the zero g combat mission called? Haven’t got there yet. You’re all also forgetting it has the best doors in any game ever. That’s got to be worth a lot.

It's a space station in alpha centauri iirc. Probably one of the first places I wandered off to when I thought wandering might be worth it

Probably too late to change the game's foundations now, but if it was up to me I'd remove the fast travel between undiscovered planets and replace it with a "Hyperjump" sequence in your ship.
During a Hyperjump you're free to move around your ship and do ship admin, or sleep. Your Hyperjump can be interrupted by random encounters with other ships - friendly and hostile - and you're also free to "bottle it" and retreat to the previous system you jumped from at any time.
I feel like this would at least give the impression of space exploration.

I remember swapping my ship in this for something else that I thought would be better for combat but turned out it was much lower on storage and all my inventory just over spilt meaning I couldn't add anything else. I was stuck on a planet over encumbered with a ship I couldn't offload to and I actually could not be arsed to keep going traversing between different vendors because I couldn't sell all my shit.
Just swapped the ship back and then gave up with it. I love a factory/production/craft/inventory management game more than most but even I fucked it off as oppressive bullshit

The ship you get for completing the Freestar collective missions became my go to ship. Good design and really easy to add new parts to it without causing issues.
The ship you get in New Game+ is fine but not one I would use all game.

I built a custom ship that was heavily based on one of the Elliptic (Ecliptic?) mercenary ships but with the best possible generator and weapons. It outclassed the Freestar ship by some margin, and made ship combat pretty trivial.
I liked the game just fine but had enough after going into NG+ a couple of times. I’ll probably like the DLC too, but it’s console mods I’m really waiting on.

Was it just me or did the game have too much hacking/picking and not enough digipicks? I remember buying every one I seen and I was still short and I wasn't failing the mini games. Seemed you couldn't enter a room without stumbling over several and I eventually just stopped because even the hardest ones only had 7.77 ammo and fruit.

Think it was more an issue of people trying to figure out how the lock picking game worked.

I think they made using digipicks easier as despite the locks saying expert or advanced they're really really easy.
