As pinion only, she needs her hands free to play with Decks’ balls

I’ve spent the past week riding a Honda Goldwing. I quite like it.

I have moved flat, 20m away from the old. Same estate, different entrance and post code. Bike is still in same garage.
Insurance want to cancel as new area is higher risk...
I am appealing to the ombudsman.

Luckily my old dears live down in a retirement area near Bognor so I can leave the bike in their garage for at least 183 days of the year, brings the premium right down

Hmm... not having a good time at the moment. A few weeks ago got stuck in traffic in a heatwave and suffered heatstroke. Which set off panic attacks that I haven't had in years.
Ever since I just can't relax in the bike, every time I stop in traffic or get on a long stretch of road where I know I can't pull over I start panicking. I am currently staying with friends on holiday and am having to leave my bike here as when I tried to ride home yesterday I had a massive panic attack as I hit the motorway. Which was... fun.
It is killing me as I normally ride 5000 miles a year, often do 1000 multi country road trips etc. And now I can barely leave my driveway.
Fuck I need to sort my head out.

Nasty man. Is your bike still at your friends place? I guess building up a few short rides is the way to go, rebuild the confidence and remember the pleasure that comes with it. Would riding the bike with someone else help?

Yeah bike is still there. Plan is wait a couple of weeks, then when weather cool try a few trips.
Is actually at my brothers, I was holidaying at his new home down the coast. Was planning to pop down every 2 weeks anyway, so plan is every 2 weeks try again...

Happy to ride along in convoy to keep your mind off things, I’m running packtalk for comms if you’ve got that

It is 100% mental and I think will just build up again. I actually did a 3 hour drive a couple of days earlier on a date. Had no issues at all then, but my mind was on the girl behind me and my riding being extra safe so I didn't have capacity to panic. Haha, actually that is incentive to get a 4th date out of her. Hot rock biker chick has extra potential as a passenger therapist 🤣

So after a few years flitting from a Harley sportster to a v85tt and currently a softail slim I think it’s time for a change. Quite fancy the bmw urban gs. Had a test ride and feels a lot smaller than the slim obvs but plenty of grunt. I was surprised with that as Being used to 1690 cc engine in the slim I underestimated these here modern bikes!
Anyone have any experience or thoughts on the urban gs?

Always felt those R Nines are a bit over priced for what you get. There’s a new one one the way by all accounts

Indeed they do seem pricey compared to some of the competition. I’m a sucker for classic looking bikes though and don’t really like the triumph.
The Guzzi v85tt was lovely except for the engine knock when the temps were a little warm.

You looking new or used? What about a Ducati scrambler 1100 or even a monster 1200 if that’s not too modern looking

That's rough Ryan. A girl in the back seat takes one's mind off things splendidly, though.

Nice! All I’ve done with mine in the past two months is sell it… I’m hopefully getting a 2021 KTM Super Adventure S in the next few weeks though.

You sold the Hyper? Is the 1290 a loaner or the hypers replacement

I was pleasantly surprised to learn you can still take the direct access course.
Sorely tempted, but I also want a TV and an Atmos set up. And maybe some furniture. And I need new flooring.

DA just means us old farts don’t have to ride a 125 to get started, factor in at least 800 quid for some training, bike hire and all the tests

Knocked a couple of hundred miles off today, first big ride out in what feels like years. Sadly most of it was boring motorway miles to get from north London to the south coast, felt good to scrape some rust off though

Oh wow. Insurance last year 970. This year 2 fucking grand. That is for a 10 grand bike in a garage.
Almost enough to make me give up on bikes.
