Someone will make a film about this in the future. Possible titles; The Slap, Keep her name out of your mouth, GI Jane 2.

I'm trying to think of a joke where Smith is Putin and Rock is Ukraine, "well what did you expect when you crossed that line" or some other adapted Putin apologist line, but I can't figure out who/what alopecia would be in that analogy.

So we're not still saying it was staged, right. Because it wasn't.

Sean Penn would have to don blackface as one of the characters for that joke to work.

If you're of a certain age, as myself and Chris Rock are, GI Jane is reasonably memorable as a) Demi Moore got paid a huge amount to do it, she was the highest paid actress at the time and b) it was a notorious flop. Following on from another more notorious Demi Moore flop where she got paid an equally huge salary.
Personally I would've gone with an Alien 3 joke, which would've tied into a reappraisal thread nicely.

Jesus fucking Christ, now we’ve reached “You can’t make jokes about missing hair if the missing hair would have been African hair, even if you’re a black guy to begin with.” Stuff like this is why Trump gets votes. I can’t tell if you’re being serious. If Jada’s this upset about being a smoking hot and incredibly rich bald woman, wait until someone explains to her about ageing and death. If only I could wave a wand and give everyone in that room an actual debilitating disease. You cannot possibly know another person's state of mind. So what if it's not debilitating, does that mean it's unreasonable for her to be insulted if someone brings attention to it in that way? What if she's been hearing BS about it for years for all we know, is that okay because it's "just a joke bro"? Imagine you had, say, a very slight limp after an accident. It's not debilitating, there's nothing you could do before that you can't do now, you live your life fine... Except there's always this one random douche that shoots you a disapproving look, or a crass comment, or a bad joke about it. You're really telling me that, at some point, you wouldn't start getting testy about it, even in the context of a good-natured joke? Imagine if I have an ACTUAL debilitating autoimmune condition that leaves me so arthritic that I spend some years hobbling around like a pirate because my leg can’t straighten out, while your fingers sticking out in random directions, for which I now take drugs that suppress the immune system to stop it fucking with you, which apart from the “side effect” of it doing exactly what it intends- suppressing your immune system - comes with a raft of kill-yourself side-effects that makes being able to walk very questionably worth it. But you’ve spent your adult life with fuck all money because of it. Let me tell you, it makes everyone with supreme empathy for Jade Pinkett Smith’s limited HAIRSTYLE opportunities look like a bunch of mewling pissants. The fucking shallowness and superficial vanity of it.

This is why we shouldn't be allowed to talk about anything other than "Are there UFOs?!", how bad Geocities is, and Everquest on the internet

No one should have to live in such pain, I wouldn't wish it on anyone and you have my deepest sympathies. That still doesn't make it okay (in my view) for someone to mock someone else's condition, though. Even if said condition is not debilitating in the slightest. Again, I did not mean to offend you, I'm sorry and I completely understand how rough it can be to have to deal with a condition like that. I just can't agree that Jada Pinkett Smith should have to grin and bear it, just because her condition happens to not be severe, just as I would not agree if someone mocked your condition, or anyone else's for that matter. The only time I might see it as being okay, if ever, is if the person with the condition has explicitly said that it is, and makes jokes about it themselves (which, based on her expression, really did not seem to be the case).

I did have to stop a little bit of a scoff today listening to various radio interviews with a woman from the alopecia support whatever group saying this was akin to a hate crime and alopecia is a devastating disease etc but I also take on board that I am a man who always knew he was going to be afflicted by male pattern baldness, it's expected to a certain extent in men and just fucking get on with it, you puff. For women, it is a very very different experience. It is not common or expected.
I think Jada looks amazing with a shaved head: as she should, she's a stunningly beautiful woman, and much like an attractive man, will look good, hair or no hair. From what she has said, she doesn't feel that way.

This is what I was referring to earlier, it doesn't come off great when you have that knowledge. It makes it seem more of quite a cheap ass joke.

The only time I might see it as being okay, if ever, is if the person with the condition has explicitly said that it is, and makes jokes about it themselves (which, based on her expression, really did not seem to be the case). I’m not offended, I’m just easily annoyed. To put me in context, I had a weirdly alienated childhood, a surprisingly violent early teens in a boarding school (ritual beatings, thrown down a staircase in a sack, hit every day kind of stuff) raped when I was 18, bashed unconscious and robbed on a train station when I was 20, a generally miserable adult life due to mystery illnesses that are only more recently diagnosed and being dealt with, somehow collided with two different murders (that otherwise had nothing to do with me), then was stabbed dozens of times myself after an eighteen month breakdown over the second murder, by a fucking nutter who thought everything was about him, among other things. I can laugh about all that stuff except the murders, but I have a very, very high threshold for people”s demands for sympathy. There was a little girl in Australia who’s hands and legs were burnt off in a fire. She’s a total champ. African American men and women being shot down by the police who are supposed to protect them. People in sexual slavery. The hairstyle vanity of rich women doesn’t cut it. Not even slightly. I think that Will only reacted that strongly because Chris Rock has made fun of JPS’s vanity in the past, and apparently only Ricky Gervais can get away with that. Frankly, Jada PS should publicly condemn what Will did. The fuck are they doing normalising violence over her hairstyle vanity.

I also think bald women are hot. I think Star Trek: The Motion Picture was a sexually formative experience for me. The woman from STTMP was ABSURDLY beautiful. I’ve actually used her to some positive effect in the past when a woman has been seriously affected by confronting their hair loss. We have to normalise bald women because they often look amazing. People made a bizarrely big deal about Demi Moore shaving her head for GI Jane, but Persis Khambatta did it decades earlier and looked AMAZING. She really unfortunately died at just 49 years old, and because STTMP was a flop I don’t think she managed to make inroads into Hollywood off that role, but I read about her and she seemed really cool. Fuck, if people are super-conservative about women with shaved heads now, imagine in 1978 when she was filming Star Trek.
