Hadn't realised this was so imminent, and that there was a demo out on PC. Been a bit out of the loop on this, but is this new World Tour mode with custom avatars and what looks like Yakuza-mini gameplay going to be the main story mode/campaign outside of the multiplayer?
I.e. no main story with the established characters, etc.?

My understanding is World Tour is the story mode and will feature all the characters (at least, those that are in the roster). There will be a story that all of them are involved in.
You will meet them as your avatar and learn their fighting styles. Not sure how it will work exactly, whether you just become that character with all the abilities or if you are going to be able to mix and match.

I believe you can switch between master moves, these are the moves you get from the fighters in the game once you build a relationship with them.

Read through RPS and Eurogamer reviews and now very much hyped for this. Surprised by the lack of a Bestest Best award from RPS, as it very much read like one (besides mention of tech issues on PC *sigh* - fortunately sound like they are only in World Tour mode).
As a noob, I'll probably be diving into World Tour first to get to grips with everything, but will look forward to having the shit beaten out of me by you guys at some point.

It's reviewing really well, not that I care for that usually, but it's good news nontheless. I did notice quite a lot of obvious newbies in the beta, so hopefully it's attracting a new audience.

It was hard to judge your power level, for sure. I played a few n00bs but I think I played mostly OG street fighter 2 players like myself. Old men who never bothered to learn how to Parry in SF3, FADC in 4 or really do anything remotely optimal with the V system. You can just kind of tell when people are blowing the rust off and running with the basics.

Near universal praise for the netcode (or, at least, the five or so reviews I've watched so far) is definitely great to hear.
Suspect World Tour mode will be more divisive, but it does look like a bit of nonsense fun at least.
Assume the pro play is still just to go Blanca and hold down that one button that does electricity, yeah?

Nice to see this reviewing well. Seems like Capcom have really delivered. Don't like the sounds of a paid battle pass in a full priced game though. Fight Money got a lot of criticism but I bagged quite a few DLC characters using just those.
Still not sure whether to Day 1 or wait a while. It looks great, feels great but fighting games are just a bit of a time sink and I keep meaning to work on my backlog.

I seemed to meet an inordinate amount of bad French players on MC (and usually playing Ken) but there were also quite a lot of players who seemed to know the basic craic with SF, but were obviously very rusty. The few people who I did meet that knew what they were doing were really very good. The ability of some chars to corner-carry is going to be a fairly large factor in this, I think. They got rid of mashing inputs, finally. I noticed that reversals seemed harder to do. What have they done to fix that? I know that negative edge is off by default now, and that might be a factor, but I had problems with it on presumably due to the input windows being so loose. I often got the wrong move coming out regardless of how quick I tried pressing the buttons, e.g. Ryu's Cr.MK > Donkey kick instead of Cr.MK > FB. |

I did notice that the DP shortcut seems to be back. I could be wrong on that, but it seemed to be pretty consistent when I tried it.
