Be interested to hear your thoughts on the Octa pad - I'm looking to get one myself for the Xbox but the reviews of the D-Pad don't sound too promising (though people will moan about anything on the internet). Please report back! Just picked it up from the store. Initial impressions are it's incredibly light as I don't think has any rumble motors in there. Face buttons are microswitches, akin to like a mouse button so there's a click sound when you hit them and you don't have to press them too strongly. The top 4 buttons are just normal buttons though, interestingly the R1 is named L3+R3 and the L2 is named L2+R2. The Dpad is a bit small and felt a bit stiff, it kinda reminds me of the Saturn Dpad, I won't really know till I try it out but surprisingly the stick is actually quite nice, it's got an 8 way indentation in the layout so it feels like you could use it as a genuine alternative and there isn't much distance between neutral position and the edge so it could give you a quick response time. I don't think it's a perfect pad but for the price of 50 euros I'm happy. Great stuff, thanks for the feedback! Saturn D-Pad was my favourite ever D-Pad so I may need to take the plunge and give this a go - the Xbox one just doesn't cut the mustard from what I've played so far.

Late to the party here but yes I have the Octa and echo what Jambo says - it is very light. Personally I don’t find the dpad a problem at all, and I can do the things I need to do without issue. This goes for SF and Tekken. But to caveat that, in my case I’m readjusting back to pad from a fight stick, so I can’t tell if missed inputs are my poor execution or the pad itself - but I’ve not noticed any obvious problems. Anyway my CFN ID is CruelPaiMei. I should be on tonight so if anyone wants a game just send me an invite!

I'm not a SF person but I'm thinking of getting something for MK when it launches in a few months.

I was watching some MK11 and it seems to be perennially stuck in the 90s. The animations are so unnatural and robotic I couldn't even watch it - there's just no fluidity to any of it. Character designs and colour palette were really muddy as well. Are people still impressed by the gore? It just seems stupid now
Also watched some GG Strive and jesus, it's hard to follow enough without flashing huge words all over the screen every 10 seconds (though the visuals themselves are quite nice)
Haven't really looked at SF6 much but glad to get the impression it's turning out well. Jelly of people who can play fighting games

I think you'd like SF6 AA it has a control scheme for people not fully on board with fighting games, it give you easy combos and special moves on one button.

Haha, nah, I can do basic moves and combos no problem (in training modes) but once I'm in an actual game (only ever played CPU), the combos go out of the window. It's all the technical side of it that misses me- despite watching a decent amount of commentated high level tournament play, I still don't know what they're talking/getting excited about. I have no idea what a 'normal' is or 'reverse counter', etc. I kind of know what mixups are. I'm fairly decent at Devil May Cry, which is the closest thing to a fighting game I've ever put time into learning I am tempted to pick it up as despite never playing it seriously, it's as core a game series as Mario or Sonic for me. It's funny that in that video Onny posted, they said they were glad we were getting another Street Fighter game. It would be so weird if Street Fighter wasn't a thing anymore
edit: I have no clue how to play tactically, ie. when a particular move or action should be used against an opponent. Love watching good people play though

Honestly that stuff doesn't matter in the slightest. Just play your way, not many people apart from people who take it super seriously will remember all the long string combos. It's quite flexible enough for you to do 6 hit combos as a standard and I was playing on the shit PS5 Dpad.

You can press start to skip ending animations by the way. Then rematch is very quick.

Can you do training without interference in battle hub? Kind of want to try something out instead of getting my ass kicked all the time lol

Ah balls. Just realised that downloading what is labelled as the demo on Steam is the wrong thing. Scroll down and you will see an option to request beta access, which will add the right thing to your library.
Have to re-downoad something that seems to be basically the same size.
Edit: just tried copying the demo files over into the open beta folder to see if that would shrink the download, but seems not. Looks like I won't get to give this a go tonight.
