Camera shake and film grain are the ones I immediately switch off in every game

Reddick is Lt. Daniels FFS! Legendary character. Reprised to a degree as Irvin Irving in Bosch.

I quite like motion blur.
That gyro aiming will be awful though.

Apparently when you meet the twins you should do their side quest as the reward is really good.

Yeah I'm all about motion blur, well more object motion blur than camera.

Motion blur disguises the 30fps peasantness, so probably best to leave it enabled. I tried resolution mode briefly (20 seconds at most) but panning the camera is just awful so it had to go. Couldn't spot a major increase or drop in image quality between modes, so it'll be performance for the rest of the game I reckon.

I hate motion blur. I hate film grain. I hate that chromatic fuckadoodle thing. All of it. It’s bollocks.

Yeah I turn it all off too, but I tend not to play stuff at 30fps wherever possible.

I have no idea what chromatic apparitions actually does, but I hate motion blur. The only blur I'm okay with is depth of field blur, but I hate that motion blur makes it seem like you're in a tornado every time the camera moves. Film grain I don't mind so much.

Ha fuck yes! Mrs is up at 6 tomorrow for work (which means I will invariably be woken up) and has just told me that when she finishes at 5:30 she's going having her hair done and doing her mates her so is Unilever to be back before 10. I just won the gaming lottery

Unilever? You realise they make cleaning products? She wants the place absolutely spotless!

Film grain can be nice sometimes, a bit like how CRTs used to imply additional detail that wasn't there in old SNES games. Chromatic abberation sucks though, and camera motion blur is annoying unless you have low framerates. It was dreadful in Uncharted 4.
Not that it matters because Amazon didn't delivery my fuckin copy today

Film grain worked really well for the original Mass Effect.

I wear thinned lenses with quite a strong prescription for my glasses so I get plenty of chromatic aberration in real life. When it’s added in games it tends to cause me actual eye strain so I need that stuff off.

I'm climbing up the tower to topple the shuttle so not far in. So far, seems like a better, slicker version of the first one with stunning graphics. Not blowing me away but it'ssolid , story beginning is fine too. Playing games with this visual fidelity at 60fps with HDR on a big telly is a fucking joy, it really is.

The hit to image quality in performance mode is definitely higher than I was expecting.
1800p doesn't sound low at all really but checkerboard rendering often works from half horizontal resolution, which means this is probably rendering natively at something in the 1260p'ish range before the checkerboard shenanigans are applied.
Still great looking though, no way I'm giving up the 60fps.

I passed the opening credits and have got deeper into that area.
This is way better than the first game. Just feels far more ‘solid’ and smoother.
Brilliant stuff. Spoilt by so many great games right now.

Looks very nice indeed. Not much seems to have changed with the gameplay so I'm already considering just bumping it down to easy and treating the game as a virtual sightseeing tour.

First actual physical game I have bought in months...and it doesn't arrive on time!(I choose to assume the Amazon driver was keeping themselves safe by not delivering parcels yesterday?) hopefully today.
Hope you lot are having fun anyway.

Anyone tried Machine Strike yet? No? Me neither. Just because the Witcher had Gwent doesn't mean Aloy needs space chess.

I thought the first game was excellent, but at the time didn’t have time to finish it.
The combat variation is unique. You really have to think about how you’re going to approach the battle.
It feels more open-ended and strategic in combat than most other games. E.G, you can set cool traps, distract, stealth and then go balls in, all for one battle sequence.
If you treat this like a Far Cry game you get less out of it. Gotta plan hard before jumping in!

Had a quick go this morning and found resolution mode just unplayable as a result of the juddering when panning.

I'm pretty sure the judder is just because everyone is used to playing 60fps now. That shit has always been there, we were just used to it. Play a few hours and you won't notice it again.

Really not sure about that, haven't noticed anything anywhere near so jarring when doing similar comparisons in other games.

I thought it was the oled not handling motion terribly well. Haven't had another play. I am trying not to get distracted and finish games before starting a new one. Haven't even finished Act 1 of GoT yet.

I haven't played it so it might be worse than usual but whenever I flick between 30 and 60 on a third person game the camera rotation always feels juddery as fuck.
