TRIGGER WARNING (morbid post, if admins want to remove the thread I understand).
Now hear me out, I know this is super morbid but I think about this often. Not because I constantly worry about dying, rather I listen to so much music, and find new songs I like most days that I often find myself thinking that I'm neglecting bands/artists I love, but then find someone else I haven't listened to before, start loving them, and then the cycle begins again.
So I'll then have an almost panicked way of thinking about what music I need to listen to just in case something happens to me unexpectedly. Then I think about if I have the luxury of knowing when it would happen, what music would I want to listen to as I say my goodbyes.
I guess then there are two things here: - What would be the last song you'd want to hear before you blink out of existence? - If you knew you were on your death-bed and had a few hours to go, what would you make sure you listened to?
Maybe I'm on my own with this, but as I said, it's something I think about now and again...but don't have the answer to as I like too much music!

Probably Wagner's Ring Cycle as that's the longest musical thing I can think of.
As for what it would actually be, maybe the music from the Fellowship of the Ring. That always just makes me happy.
Actually this is reminding me of a mate's funeral last year where they played Star Wars music, so I'm out of here.

I did really mull over creating this thread, so I do apologise if in creating it I've caused distress or upset for other posters. I just thought it was a valid point of discussion.
Maybe it seems too flippant, or the title itself is too on the nose, happy to make whatever amends, removals required for others comfort (not sure I can delete myself).

Do you need a trigger warning? I'd amend the thread title if I could, if the title doesn't cause offence then I think the post itself isn't upsetting (but can add just to be safe).

I think it would be something like "Story of my Life" by One Direction. Because then I'd think "you know, death isn't so bad. In fact it can't come quick enough."

The Best Is Yet To Come by Aoife Ní Fhearraigh
It's the closing song in Metal Gear Solid but it's honestly over of my favourite musical pieces ever. Haunting, beautiful, melancholic. Seems perfect to slip away to.

*I* answered the question seriously, instead of cracking wise or making the OP feel bad... for which I now feel quite the bellend. Hey, mikeck! You suck! (Not really.)
EDIT: No disrespect intended to anyone who actually finds the subject matter upsetting, of course - I'm just taking bollocks as usual.

I don't know about what I want to listen to. But I want my last words to be "I'm sorry for all the terrible crimes I committed, I buried the evidence at...", and just leave it right there.

I stand by my choice, even though I'd need about 2.5 hours' worth of notice re my impending demise. Plus I'd need to be able-bodied enough to get up and change the CDs, 'cause I'm damned if I'm going to go out streaming music like some kind of young person!

I would genuinely like the Las Ketchup song to be played as I want to die doing the dance.

This is a crossover with Desert Island Discs surely (although I'd probably skip the more upbeat ones from my DID selection...)
If I've got about half an hour to go, it would probably be:
1983 a Merman I Should Turn To Be - Jimi Hendrix Experience The Prophets Song - Queen Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd ...actually just the whole album, then Dark Side Of The Moon if I'm still hanging on (although Great Gig In The Sky would probably finish me)

Assuming the fortune teller was right, it’s got to be “Death Throes of the Terror Squid” by Alestorm. It’s pretty much exactly what she described.

I would genuinely like the Las Ketchup song to be played as I want to die doing the dance. Could be wrong but I imagine playing that song would guarantee someone killing you. Follow it up with Cotton Eye Joe to be sure.

This has crossed my mind more than a few times (which anyone whose read the cancer thread will understand,) but I'm not that arsed. I want Good Riddance (time of your life) by Green Day at my funeral but I'm not arsed about listening to anything myself.

Now that's a good song to have played.
At this point in time I'd choose anything over the fecking Encanto soundtrack that my daughter is playing on constant repeat. I know all the words, have the songs playing in my head when I wake up and I really don't want anybody to talk about fucking Bruno anymore.
(I actually really like Lin-Manuel Miranda's work, it's just anything on repetition gets ruined for me).

YouTube music 'relaxing playlist', which should hopefully go along well with the massive doses of diamorphine (other opioids are available).

On Our Own - Bobby Brown, from the Ghostbusters 2 soundtrack
Or
Ninja Rap - Vanilla Ice, from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 soundtrack
Basically any movie sequel song from the 90s will probably work
