They've probably reduced direct debit due to years of overpayments.
Or the far more likely explanation is we've got a piss goblin in our midst.

Surely it's going to be more than that on average over a year, unless it never uses background downloads. That should be the bare minimum usage if you leave a console in standby, not "up to".
I tend to just switch mine off at the wall when done with it. Internet is quick enough to download any updates while I make a cuppa.

Well, got the call from my landlord yesterday. That's an extra £100/mth on my rent \o/
But at least I can sleep easy knowing I've helped him avert this crisis.

We’ve not had a gas electric bill for years. We’re repeatedly asking them to send us a bill, and have sent endless readings, but they just don’t seem capable of sending a bill, it’s insane. It ain’t going to be pretty when it arrives though.
Heating went in today cos I’ve got a babysitter coming round and felt guilty making them sit in 11 degrees for 4 hours.

I recall the law changed a few years back where they can’t backdate more than two years now, so you may be quids in.

Ofgem back billing rules are getting me out of paying for 5+ years of gas, I did try and let them know a few times and had engineer visits but they couldn't get a meter reading until last month.
Funnily enough they seem keen to sort these issues lately.

Yeah, think this was it. Thanks! Sorry to drag this up…but this got me interested in a dehumidifier for our house. So you guys run this just for drying laundry inside or so you keep it running all the time? We do suffer from quite a bit of condensation on the windows in the winter. So thought it may be useful for that. Just concerned about how much it’ll cost to run!

Same as a fridge apparently. I use mine in auto mode unless drying laundry, and then it's on a timer

Not especially...haven't had this month's bill yet though when it's been on more (along with the heated dryer thing).

So are you on an Economy 7 tariff for 10pm - 8am usage?

You'll probably have a pretty hefty amount of usage at first getting the relative humidity down to a decent level, but after that it shouldn't be too bad and should only need to run for a few hours a day to keep to a target RH level (depending on a lot of factors)
I've found that the RH reading on our one seems to be at least 15% over what it actually is. Got a little hygrometer that seems far more accurate. If I set it to 60%, then I'll start getting static shocks every time I stroke one of the cats.

Ah yes, that thing! I'd forgotten about that as I don't have a smart meter.

Boiler/physics fans: is it better to set the boiler to a lower temperature and have it work over a longer period of time before the thermostat tells it to shut off, or set the boiler to higher temperature and make it work harder over a shorter period of time…

Hey there Smart Meter fans. I’ve just looked at today’s damage; we’ve had the heating on a lot today as it’s been really cold here.
£9.45 combined.
A new record \o/

Frightening innit. Ours has been on a bit too as my wife was at home. Won't be too bad other days as I'm either in the office or holing myself up wrapped in fleeces.

I had thermals, jeans and two fleecy layers on and still caved in and put the heating on for a bit at lunchtime.
