So it's getting bastard cold to be sat in a small room all day without the heating on, but I'm not switching it on yet as I've decorators in next week who will have all the windows and doors open anyway. Besides, I'm a stingy bastard and only in this single room most of the time during the day. So - what is the best, most efficient, small heater to get? It's only an idea, but I've always thought those heated carseat cover that you can get in Aldi sometimes would be a good thing for an office chair too. Not many watts but direct to where it's needed.

All of these solutions in the face of soaring profits for energy companies and an entirely artificial energy crisis manufactured to cost you more and earn them more.
But but but Russia. Yes, but but but passing the pain onto you, price gouging and profieering from a crisis, all while saying ‘we’re in this together’ with a straight face.

If it's just you, electric blanket territory imo This is the thing, I've a nice large monitor, hifi setup and settee in the study room as well so thinking that the wife and I make it our winter movie room as well, and leave the lounge for a few months.

I’m in Ecuador at the mo. My entire electric bill is $15 a month. And for the entirety of 2020 electricity was free, they didn’t want old people congregating at banks to pay their bills.
And this was a government demonised for being too corrupt and self-serving. Europe could learn a thing or too from South America about holding their government to account, but it seems all that’s needed these days over there is to wear a tailored suit and look crisp and confident at the lectern.
Do that and you can buttfuck an entire nation.

What's a cheap and cheerful heating solution for my freezing cold office/ living room that gets dark around 3pm?

Anyone have an airfryer? Gods answer to the energy crisis, or a crock of shit? Any recommendations?
As always, cheers.

I love mine. Just make sure you know it's just a small and handy convection oven with a more efficient fan due to the smaller space, not some miracle device that some people sell it as.
Barely even needs preheating most of the time compared to our oven that takes 15+ mins to get up to temp. Main downside is the extra clutter. We use ours so frequently it's got a permanent place on the counter.

Ninja Foodi which popped up on HUKD a few years ago. It looks a bit shit in fairness (as do most of them really)

please consider flushing the toilet every now and again I wish more people at my work would do this. Fucking manky students and thier lazy/water saving ways. Our building even uses rainwater to flush and we're in scotland, so there's no shortage FFS!

Pfft, we follow the well known phrase in this house.
If it's yellow let it mellow. If it's brown let it mellow and pop out to town.

Just read my water meter, submitted a reading and got my payment down to £4 a month! I don't understand how you could get it this low? Surely the standing charges for connection and sewerage / drainage charges will be more than £4 a month!

I thought he said BY £4 a month! Even my old dear, who lives in a 2 bed bungalow and barely flushes the loo uses £15 a month.
