You don't really use anything electric??? Do you use a gas operated TV or lights then? HARDLY use. So, currently, all my sockets are off except the fridge and wifi. My laptop gets charged intermittently through the day. Kettle gets boiled maybe 4 times a day. It stays like this until end of working day/ evening when I put on one light, depending on what room I'm in. Hardly touch my PlayStation these days and mostly just have on the TV, if I am doing something. Oven is gas. Presumably, some ghosts will be visiting you shortly.

I bought a couple of motion sensors the other week. Now anything with a smart plug or smart bulb will turn itself off if nobody is in the room for more than 15 minutes. I've looked at getting an energy monitor but none seem that reliable and the one everyone recommends is American and not built for our systems

Have you looked at Owl? I've had one of theirs that has been working fine for best part of 10 years.
(It will be 10 years on 1 December - Just checked my Amazon order history)

Believe it or not âwhy donât I completely over-engineer a solutionâ wasnât my first response to this house is like Blackpool illuminations.
And, like I say, itâs not just lights, it turns things like the telly being on standby off.

Genuine question. For anyone who been fat, and then thin (or vice versa). Do far people feel the cold as much as thin people?

In my experience of being thin and then not so thin and back twice, it's less fat and more age. Definitely feeling the cold more as I get older, regardless of weight.

I've been a bit fat at various points in my life and can say I definitely felt more snug, however summer was not fun in those days. I was my slimmest in Vietnam and when winter came it was brutal.

I'm about 4 stone lighter than I was this time last year (16st ish down to 12st 1lb as of this morning) and I've not noticed any great difference yet but it's still been relatively warm. Also, my circulation is shit and my hands and feet are usually freezing anyway so I tend to have a blanket on my lap like some old c*nt whenever I'm sat down regardless of the temperature.
Although they did do Fat vs Thin on Brainiac about 20 years ago and they concluded that fat people do indeed do better in the cold than thin people and vice versa.

Now I just need to do some exercise, it's all been purely calorie restriction so far, so I'm not any healthier - just thinner.

Holy shit. I got a mortgage in march fixed for five years. I just checked how much more it would be if I got it out today. ÂŁ800 EIGHT HUNDRED more per month. Wtf.

Most lamps have already been plugged into tp-link Tapo smart plugs for quite a while because the sockets and dongers were behind/under furniture (bad house layout) but I got a few tapo smart bulbs for the big lights just for this. Ive also got an 'alexa, goodnight' routine that turns half the house off, which is very satisfying.

I sent my mortgage bloke a thank you email yesterday for when he said "fucking fix you cretin" earlier this year. Fixed til 2025. Assume Labour govt by then. If not, then we're all fucked.

Three years was pretty optimistic of you! We went five and even that feels like it could be too short.

Three years was pretty optimistic of you! We went five and even that feels like it could be too short. Tbf this was in May. At that point, we still had Boris and it didn't look like he was going anywhere but the worst part was he was just being a knob. Hindsight and all that but if you'd have told me that within 4 months Liz Truss would have been PM and crashed the economy within ONE WEEK of taking the job, I would have probably fixed for longer.

I'm not sure estate agents have got the message on what is going on. Neighbours across the road are selling up after 2.5 years, and have just put on market for 35% more than they bought it. They've redecorated and redone one bathroom but it was not a doer upper of any kind before.
